  1. Hello My name is Paul, i am 20 years old and i am from Grimsby in Lincolnshire. I have recently had an interview for a Gamekeeping Apprenticeship at Bishop Burton college in Yorkshire and I have been offered a place so long as i can find employment but being in the north east Lincolnshire area Gamekeepers seem to be few and far between, i have contacted the major local estate (brocklesby estate which is owned by the Earl of Yarborough) and some smaller estates ran by farmers and the only replies i seem to be getting are "we aren't looking to employ anyone else" which is fair enough but also rather disappointing but hey, what can you do. I am posting here to see if there are any people out there that may know someone that could take me on or actually take me on themselves in or around the Grimsby area?(30 mile radius) I have experience in: - organised shoots as I was a beater at my local shoot (no gamekeeper, it is ran by volunteers) - pest control as I often shoot pigeons and rabbits for the local farmer. - Handling rifles and shotguns I can drive so transport is no problem. I am looking to work within a 25-30 mile radius of Grimsby. The employer has a possibility of gaining a £1500 grant if they take me on which is provided by the college (the government have the final say however as it goes through them + Terms and conditions apply) I am willing to do trial runs I can do voluntary work to gain experience. If there is anyone out there that will be able to help me it would be more than appreciated. If anyone has any offers or information then please contact me via my email - Pldiplock@gmail.com

  4. Anyone know of any work with horses going, which would include a house? I have a good friend looking for something quickly. Basically, nice couple with 4yr old moved in with him looking after horses for semi disabled person. Cut to the chase, landlord / employer has give them 2 weeks notice as he has been given about 4 weeks life notice and wants to tidy up his affairs. I can see both sides, but the young couple I know will be homeless and jobless in 2 weeks. Ideally it needs to be in the Cotswolds, really ideally within a radius of 20 miles of Burford. Any help, tip offs etc will be rewarded!
  5. Evening all, Well it was a normal day until 5.35pm when I pull up at home to be confronted by my boss. He let rip at me and called me just about every offensive name under the sun and threaten to smash my head in. I never retaliated and after 10mins he left. Now the background, I am not an employee as such but made a junior partner about 6 months ago. Reason for the eruption was non work related in any sense, I have basically dropped him in the brown stuff with him family, not intentionally, but his error for saying things he should not have said. (all gets very complex) Now from the verbal abuse received I have no intentions of continuing to work for him for the long term, however, what holds does he have on me? In the sense of notice I have to give or breach of partnership act( I have never signed a partnership agreement) I have a set partnership salary, not invested any funds and have very little to do within the management and running of the business. I am not looking for compensation as I rather go quickly and quietly and get on with finding another job, however I don't want any backlash or liability. Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated as he wants a meeting 1st thing, I have already been advised to make sure someone else is present. He is used to bullying people, but fortunately he has never done this to me in the last 6 yrs, as we usually get on and I do bring him in a lot of fees. Any thoughts will be welcomed!!! Cheers NB
