  1. Hi Folks, Thanks for letting me join. Just received my shotgun license and have started to acquire a couple of shotguns. I recently picked up a couple of sbs from an auction and one does need some restoration. It is safe and sound but suffering from external rust, a couple of small dents in one barrel. Also there is some staining of the boxlock action due to moisture. Still can't complain as it only cost me 1.30 pence. Sorry my keyboard doesn't have the pound sign. Anyway I am looking for some recourses to help with the restoration which will be a winter project. Websites, videos or articles all would be welcome. Many thanks in advance, Lee
  2. My brother managed to break the stock on this Powell boxlock. Wondering if it can be repaired or is it a case of a new stock? The guns not worth much but has some sentimental value, so don't want to scrap it but also don't think I can justify some of the prices I've been quoted for restocking. Would cascamite hold? Or is the break too bad? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Photos to follow.
  3. im just wondering if any folks on here have had good results with any gun bluing kits for small scratches etc, i'd be well interested to get some feed back on this, ive seen bisley do a small tub for around a fiver, could be a good way to go ? http://www.uttings.co.uk/Product/655/103791/bisley-gun-blue-biobl/
  4. Having a clear out and I've found an old chainsaw that has had it, fully stripped down and the piston has eaten itself and the cylinder killing both components. Everything else is there apart from the bar and chain. Had it serviced before it died (bad fuel mix killed it I believe). So the carb is in good nick and everything else has had a clean up. I can't believe the urine-extracting prices for spares online, so I'm not bothering to repair it. You can have everything either assembled or in kit form as it currently sits for £35 posted anywhere in the mainland UK. If you are after a few certain parts I may be willing to break it just to save on postage and faff etc. Cheers.
  5. Hi all, a bit of guidance required. I was out at a local shoot today, finished shooting was giving my gun a quick wipe over with a gun cloth prior to it going not the slip for the drive home and the bead simply pulled off under the cloth. I managed to salvage the bead but after inspection it seems to have snapped off. I guess it will be covered by the warranty. Has anyone any experience with Browning warranties? I see that you need to go back to a dealer, can I use a closer dealer than the one I bought it from. any idea what repair turn round times are like? I assume the broken part of the bead in the rib will need to be drilled out. Anyone got any guidance re this sort of problem! Dave_B
