As time passes we as a community/sport must engage with the younger generation in order to maintain our sport/culture. With pressures from Government mounting and new bans/disruptive legislation coming into force (steel) the cost of shooting is only rising, at what point do we blink? 40-45p a clay, £220+ 1000 (lead, fibre, entry level cartridges), £80+ for beginner 1hr coaching (+ cartridges and clays) The sport feels somewhat reserved for those who can afford to pay the fees or for the few who are lucky to carry natural talent and become sponsored. I would like to ask what people's thoughts are on this matter and how they believe as a community we can make shooting more accessible? I personally belive it to be willfully ignorant of us to say "if you can't afford it don't shoot". Thank you in advance. -
I am a very experienced shooter who is looking for a syndicate place in an all aspect shoot and i am not worried if a bit of work is required either. I am BASC registered and hold both shotgun and firearms certs, current guns are - Browning 12g 3 shot semi auto m/choke / Laurona 12g s/s fixed choke 1/4 & 1/2 / .22 Rimfire / .17 HMR and .22 FAC air rifle. Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and have some questions to ask if you don't mind helping me. I have moved to the UK 2 years ago from Malta to continue my medical training and work here as a doctor. In Malta I used to practice shooting for birds and rabbits. Now that I'm settled here I would like to get into the shooting practice in the UK. Can you please tell me what do I need to do step by step please? I understand that I need to have a club membership and be insured (ex: BASC membership) to practice, and having a shotgun certificate if I decide to own my shotgun. Regarding the general licence, do I need to do some sort of application against a payment? Then all I need is to get a permission to access land and shoot or join a syndicate (which is most probably the hardest to achieve). Right? All help is appreciated guys. Thanks a lot Gary

Afternoon all, without me delving forums and internet does anyone have any experience on the basis of which shooting insurance to go with as from what I gather the 2 main ones (basc) and (basa) have considerable different costings, is there a particular reason for this, and what benefits does each give?

The survey is completely anonymous and should only take a few minutes of your time. The aim of the study is to find out Scottish people’s attitudes towards wolves and any groups of people that may conflict with wolves if they were released into the Scottish countryside. The study is purely hypothetical and is not related to any real wolf reintroduction project but aims to investigate this relatively new area of discussion. I am myself not for or against the reintroduction of wolves to Scotland, this is just an area of interest with relatively little recent research. Hello I have been shooting clays and wingshooting for over 20 years, mainly in the US. Just moved back to UK and got my SC last week so I got myself a nice shotgun and I am ready to go. Looking to get into pigeon shooting and , since I don't have any contacts or permissions yet, I am willing to pay for some shooting as it becomes available over the next few months and depending on the local crops etc. I live around Fordingbridge- Ringwood and I am willing to travel perhaps up to 1 1/2 hours for a good place.
