Gun Proof

At the CLA Game Fair today bought an old 'Master' Spanish s/s 12g for £45 (bargain!). The gun has many proof marks on it (presume its been reproved several times as it looks old). The chambers are marked 70mm and they are proved at 900KG. Is it safe to use any modern / nitro 70mm cartridge in this gun?

Just out of interest, my other gun (a Baikal 27 O/U) has 76mm / 3" chambers and is proved at 90MPa (about 900 bar). Is this magnum proof ie. can it handle the really heavy 3" stuff over 42g? (Not that I'd ever want to fire something that heavy in such a light gun :( ). I just wondered as several 3" guns I have seen are proved at about 120MPa / 1200 bar.
