Peter B
Bettinsoli O/U Deluxe 12b I have the same gun and have more or les the same problem i tend to get bruised cheek and also End up with very large bruise on the inside of my right arm not my shoulder, not that this matters as i cannot shoot for toffee anyway. I think the gun dosent fit me properly at all it seems too long for me; trouble is i am stuck with it as i cannot afford to get another one. My fault should have tried the gun first wouldn’t have another one
clayman
A bad gun mount and a low comb will give you more of a kick rather than a higher combed gun due to the gun rotation under recoil as the lower gun will recoil more than a higher one. Can you reference this? Its an opinion I have never seen before and would be interested in the basis for it. While I agree that bad gun mount and low combs often give an adverse re-action to recoil, the recoil value remains the same regardless of the comb height - its simply that the wrong parts of the shooter's body are contacting, ie the cheek bone or the heel pad is not in full contact spreading the load - but the recoil value itself is constant. I can see that a lower drop to heel would cause greater "rotation" and induces muzzle flip, but my view is this is only of any significance in a S/S and the comb height itself is not the culprit, its the differential between the pressure line back from the barrels and the heel contact. On an U/O this pressure line is directly back into the heel on the under barrel ( which is why U/O's are preferred for competition and that U barrel should be fired first), so this aspect is minimised on an U/O. Where can I find more info into the described effect of a lower gun recoiling more than a higher one?

No where near the price of a new one and it may only be a couple of minor changes in either the gun or your mount.
Martin g
I tried one a few weeks back, and had the same problem, kept smacking my cheek.. Gunsmith suggested I try it with slip on recoil pad to see if it would give me a better fit. Whilst waiting for one to come in stock, the shop got a less than year old lanber in.. Went and tried it out, fitted nicely, no smack cheek and saved myself £150..
BlaserF3
I missed a word out, I should have written a lower combed gun will recoil more than a high combed one due to rotation of the gun when fired. This information is in Shotgun and Shooting by John Brindle.

colsy
Hi all, tried the thicker but pad, and tried shooting with my cheek a little less toward the break, it worked. I'm getting on with it for now, but I'm hopefully gnna get a lefty at an up and coming gun fair in Feb, my mount is a bit hit and miss with this gun. Lesson learnt - dont buy a gud without testing it first! ATB, Col.
