rushy lad
In 1984 my Mother who was an avid book reader bought me a cracking little book named "Pennine Poacher", The nocturnal Exploits in the dales by Rabbity ****(Richard Fawcett). This book is an absolute gem, and I urge anyone who is a longnetter or general country man to read it if they get the chance. It was published by Daleman books in 1982 and I have never seen one in any of the book shops or advertised anywhere so it could be quite scarce. Just shows how many rabbits were around in those days, he quotes in one chapter of having around 1,100 rabbits in a week using snares and long nets and all done on his own!! Would be interested on knowing a little bit more about this supreme Poacher of the dales.

rushy lad
I will look out for that one Mate! The beauty of the Pennine Poacher is you can read it time and time again and never become bored of it. He was a real character, One of many in those days I suppose. lurcherboy
I recommend The Poachers Handbook by Ian Niall. Its published by White Lion Books of Canbridge. Its a 50's book written in the style of that age. LB
