Hi there

Just wondered how the English teams are selected in thier relevant catagories, are they the guys with the highest average scores in the last year, selected on a special shoot out or another means

What order of difficulty would you arrange the various sections of clay shooting

No asperations, just wondering aloud as it were. :good:

See here:

For England Sporting Team places, you have to submit your best 4 scores out of 7 Regional shoots on a points basis, one of which must be the British or English Open events.

If you shoot a 90 and the shoot is won with a 95, you get 5 points for that shoot.

A good rule of thumb is you normally need 25 points or less, i.e. an average of 6.25 points per shoot to be sure of a place.

The forms for this years England Sporting team selection will not be posted on the website until February.

This is the way the English Sporting and FITASC Teams are picked, no idea about the other disciplines as I don't shoot 'em.

On the English Sporting Team there are.2 Vets 2 Juniors 2Ladies and 15 Senior team members. The selection shoots consist of The British and The English Open and then a designated shoot from one of the 5 regions. You can drop your 3 worst scores but one score must be from the English or British as Cat says.I hope your pockets are deep as you even have to buy your own uniform, but it is a honour to shoot for your country and something which can never be taken from you. If i can do it there is hope for everyone, but it is hard work and lots of determination is needed. The year before i got on the team, i didn't send my form in as i didn't think I had enough points, only to find I would have made the team comfortably, and only just scraped the margins when i finally made it in 2003.I never actually won any of the selection shoots but managed to get lots of 2nd's and 3rd's.on my succesful year. It's always good to have something to aim for, and the friendships and camaraderie are an added bonus.Good luck. from Auntie. :good:

I'm not having elusions of grandeur, but can anyone enter.

If the answer is yes I might have a go and see how far off I am

Yes, anyone can enter, provided they're a CPSA member, that's the way it should be.

It's good fun travelling to the different Area Champs in all of the different Regions, you see the same faces and old friends year after year.
