Google don`t seem to be my friend today so I thought ill ask the real experts :good:

I know I can use my TV as a screen for my PC, my question is this, can I somehow connect my TV to my computer wirelessly.

My telly is down stairs and the computer with the internet and phone line is up stairs and there is no way I am running 30 meters of cables down stairs. It would be really nice to use the TV for internet down stairs with out having to go up stairs. So is there a way? :)

Assuming we are talking VGA here, then you could try and make it up with google using the incantation 'vga cable wireless'.

I haven't used one of these myself, nor do I know of anyone else who has, but I would be very wary of what the resultant signal quality might be like.

All I want is, is to use my TV screen instead of my computer screen, but with out connecting cables to it.

Sling box and a mains ethenet adapter.

Sold at most pc worlds and currys.

Also allows you to control the sky box and tv from your pc. Picture quality on SD is ok. Better than streamed tv.

*the above is more for sending tv to a computer than to a pc screen*

The sending from pc to tv depends on what tv/sky box/freeview box/graphics card you have.

Personally i would go and buy a cheap laptop or pc. Some of of the desktop pc's are very small and low cost:

The VGA or HDMI/dvi would work to output to your tv. Assuming your tv has one of these connectors.

Slingbox is still no good for what the OP wants. :good:

He wants to browse the internet sitting in front of his TV, while the PC doing the work is upstairs. As others have said, this requires more than just a video link, as the keyboard and mouse will need to work.

The easiest way to do this is to put a cheap little PC next to the TV, and use a wireless adaptor to the internet router.

Thanks for all the replies guys  , I think this would be my best option. I suppose I thought with all this technology I could run a screen wireless but i think that`s just me watching to many movies :good:

I got a HD TV and there is a lot of things on the net these days that`s in HD I want to watch on me telly, if that`s what you mean.

You'll have to make sure whatever PC you use for this got a HD graphics capability then. Basically I want much the same thing here too, but it is a long way down the list of priorities.

This is what i use (HDMI) as not all VGA carry sound afaia....but this is hard wire not wireless...

If the PC is upstairs why would you want it on the screen downstairs :good: ....unless it's for porn!

Just don`t tell the wife :good: No, the idea was that there are a few film sites I like, and I tend to make use of the BBC iplayer and other catch-up sites a lot. I sorted some of the problems by getting rid of Sky, I now got Virgin (No, not me, the cable company) and they have the catch-up channels. And there is the odd game I play which is only on PC, but which will look a lot better on my TV screen.

As a previous writer mentioned if you have a wireless set up already, then a PS3 (and an Xbox I believe) allows you to surf the net , access Iplayer directly etc. as well as display photos films etc. sitting on your PC. all that is required is a USB (optional wireless driven) keyboard.

and if you get bored of all these things you could always use it to play games :-)
