Thousands of them up here at the moment but I cant find any info on their protection status.

I thought it would be easy to out about this but am not having much luck at the moment.

By the way the sound of a large flock taking off is awesome.

Must try and get some photos to post.

for C***** sake you shouldn't even have to ask...if you shoot you should know what's legal and what's not. And remember this is an open forum.

:< :< IF YOU DONT ASK HOW THE F___K DO YOU FIND OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :< :< :<

Whether you ask or find out somehow yourself it doesn't matter to me - we've all got things to learn/find out about. This link might be helpful - it's the new BASC pocket guide to quarry id. It doesn't have pictures of everything but the text normally mentions protected species such as Brent and Barnacle geese.

ther might be thousands there? but as they are reckoned to number no more than 36.000 TOTAL hence they are protected? mind you if the daft beggers learned some different nesting techniques? they might get a bit more numerous how would you fancy a 200ft jump using your bits of fluff to "slow" your fall then if you have survived that, to land alongside a waiting charlie?

cheers KW
