Benelli Nova

Howdy all,

well as you've probably guessed i'm thinking of buying a Benelli Nova when my licence comes through, wanted a gun that could do almost anything, fire magnums and steel shot, won't mind taking a beating in the ruff, hopefully reliable and easy to clean/strip.

Looks really arn't important to me, and i know a few shoots don't allow pumps and frown on s/a's, but thats not what i'll be using it for, mostly pigeons, rabbits and the odd unlucky fox.

I'd prefer to buy a new gun as it'll be my first (although have used all sorts over the years), and with a budget of around £450 the benelli looks like the one, especially as the escorts and mossbergs have a few mixed reports (although theres very few reports on the benelli?!).

I know atleast one person (LURCHERBOY) on the forum owns a nova so any thoughts gratefully received

Lurcherboy, is that Berreta are buying out Benelli or just the uk importing?

Many thanks to everyone, one question though, darren m mentioned the long action, i assume that you mean the length of travel of the pump action mechanism? if so is it shorter on the shorter barrels? Was thinking of the 28inch barrel for a allrounder, i'm 6'2 and of largish (read lardey) build, about right?

Also anybody know where i would be able to try one out, willing to travel as i havn't had the luxury of using one, and want to make sure before purchase! ahve searched for Benelli stockists but nowone lists the NOVA

many thanks :D

Try John Forsey guns mate, south of the river, and Berretta will be the importers soon I hope.

I dont know about the length of the slider, though I would be surprised if it were different.

When I had my problems with beechwood, the importers, John Forsey was as usefull as a chocolate teapot :<

:D:D:/ thanks Lurcherboy, will do, would it be right to assume that those dealers who stock Beretta guns (for there seem to be quite a few) will have access to the Benelli range if they want it :D , sorry asking you questions that you have no reason to know, would be nice to have a few more stockists though

many thanks

i shot a friends last weekend at about 50 sporting clay targets and really enjoyed shooting it. my friend is an avid waterfowler and has shot the hell out of it. i think that it is a very good shotgun for the money. it would make a very good all around gun especially in salt water environs or when the weather turns nasty. it appears to be a very rugged firearm and it handles very nicely.
