RossM
Hi, Not posted on here for a long while. I have just aquired an AYA SBS I think its a No.2 (Its a Sideplate) . Any how its in a bit of a state and needs a damn good clean. The blueing is starting to rust a little and is generally grubby. whats the best way to clean this up to access the extent of the damage before having them re-blued? Also how can I tell if it is a No.2? It has a gold piece inserted in the base of the stock near to the butt and has 26" barrels. Its a nice little gun but just needs a bit of love. kip270
Get some of the finest wire wool that you can and slightly oil this and gently rub the barrel, this will clear the surface rust
Country_est
If its very light rust, try a ruff cloth with the oil (with elbow grease) before you try the wire wool. Try the least abrasive first ans it may just be muck and grime, if not then move on to the fine wire wool. Trev
RossM
Cheers guys. I was a little unsure if to use wire wool so will try the rough rag and oil first then the finest wire wool possible.
