best result I would have thought would be to see whether you can sell the meat direct to friends and family and do one at a time. Advertise on here etc you'll get a far better return

put my pigs on here and nobody seems interested, limx should kill out at 60% so iv been told so around 300 kilos of beef to sell ,i aint got that many freinds.think its about £150 to kill and cut up aswell, think i will have a trip to selby see what there making last time i took 2 black and white bulls they robbed me,less than £300 each one was 465 kilos the other 480 kilos, only bit plain looking but should have made at least a £1 a kilo i thought, might try newark thats suposed to be a better market, cheers any way.

I saw the pigs and had I been closer would definitely have been interested and lets face it if you're getting £300 for them it must be an option, but yep its a lot of meat but a shame to give it away. I'd say the reason is they aren't specific beef breeds so don't make premium money,

mate of mines just been down, said they should make between 1.50 and 1.80 a kilo, over the weigh bridge. so i will be taking a couple to newark on a killing market day, cheers.

Get them finished and from what I hear you should get around £600, am hearing of really good beef animals up to £1000.

However it is the same with sheep, if they are not finished (fattened) appropriately, then they get heavily discounted.

A decent beast for the fat trade will make up to and sometimes over a grand. Doesnt matter if they arent specific breeds. The majority of cattle for the beef market are not just a pedigree breed. Most are crosses out of Limousin, British Blue or Charolis continental cattle. So if you any of these then you should be fine. If they are store calves then I say the price seems fine. You wont get near a grand for them unless they are show calves. I hold on to them fatten them up of the summer grass and get them finished and sell in 6 months.

there all conti x , wont have them black and white bags of bones, my mate buys them holstein and friesian ,pays upto 140 then a bag of milk £30, keeps them on a bit of stock feed and hay then sells at 2yrs old for 400 to 500,just cant see how they make any money out of them,iv just bought 11 calfs in angus x, british blue x, and lim x, paid £215 each between 4 mnths and 5 months old, i feed adlib pig fattening pellets plus hay and there on grass so i want at least 750 to 900 at 13 to 14 monthsold, dont think thats out of the way for a 500 + kilo beast

What your looking for is not out of the question. What about selling direct to a meat packers? I know up here the local one deals direct with farmers. It supplies most of the major supermarkets.

go on bagshaws website and have a look at their sale reports, that will give you the best idea of where to send them and if they'll make more money as store's or fat beast.
