claybreaker88
Hi anyone in this forum purchased anything from the above company and how did you get on with shipping, did you have to pay duty when it arrived in the UK was the service you received from them good and the service quick. The prices theyare quoting are much lower than anywhere in the UK even if you pay the 17.5% in the UK.
M ROBSON
They are very good and the air mail will often be here within a week. If it's air mail then UPS don't charge a handling fee for Cabelas, if it's surface then Parcelforce will charge £8. You will have to pay inport tax on the price of goods and shipping, sometimes if the order is small you get away without getting charged. Always mark it as a gift. Mark. tenbears10
Avoid it coming by parcelforce if you can. I have had deliveries with £6 or £7 customs charge and parcelforce have still added their £8 handling fee. :< If I remember right they charge more than £8 if the customs is over £100 as well. dazza
I ordered £100 worth of stuff, it took 6 weeks to arrive and I had to pay £34 tax when it arrived at the door.
Catamong
I ordered a new Realtree Cammo coat at a cost of £54, I had to pay about £17 in taxes when it arrived. My delivery also took 7 weeks. Catamong.
Baldrick
I'd been mulling over buying a $250 aluminium rifle case from them. If I'm going to be walloped with that kind of customer service and import duty, I'll make do with something local.
Stealth Stalker
Dazza Snap! I had to pay £34 to the UPS delivery guy when my boots arrived. Annoying thing was they didn't fit Now I get stuff sent to my brother in law who lives in the States, and he comes over once a month on business. The prices over there are amazing, you can save a fortune.

old rooster
I ordered £100 worth of stuff, it took 6 weeks to arrive and I had to pay £34 tax when it arrived at the door. I had a similar problem when I bought some fishing line from a USA Ebay shop, none of them seem prepared to send items as "gifts", "samples of no commercial value" or "goods supplied as replacement under warranty". Any of these work but Cabellas refuse to help out so the swingeing taxes, handling charges and postal delays make it pretty pointless to patronise them. My mate goes fishing to USA each year and fills his luggage with sporting goods on his return, they definately pay far less than the UK rip off prices in the States, particularly with the favourable dollar/sterling exchange rates at the moment. I was charged £13.50 "clearance fee" by Parcel Farts and Customs VAT of £31.36 !!
kdubya
its luck of the draw re customs and vat etc had a number of items from the us only got stung once or should I say tried to get stung that was with dhl ie they delivered then sent a bill? I claimed I would not have paid it they should not have delivered it etc? goods were not to the value quoted etc, never heard another thing? recently bought a bushnell scope from arcadia in richmond VA got charged a handling fee and that was it?saved a fortune compared to the thieves here, its reckoned that 1 in 7 items are "checked" so you have a good chance of getting a bargain average time for air is 4 to 7 days surface 5 to 10 weeks cheers KW
plexer
Unfortunately companies cannot mark things as gifts etc... to help you avoid customs fee's as it's illegal for them to do so. Ben

claybreaker88
Hi Guys at the end of the day if you look at the price here in the uk and then the states add vat and say 4% import duty you will normally find you come out quids in the item I am buying costs 290ukp in the uk and over there 196us dollar with shipping so add on 17.5 vat and then 3-4% import duty and see what you come up with?. jonno 357
Reading some of the posts with interest. Seems like you all are getting ripped off by the import duty and having to pay for some to open it and re-seal it Oh dear Jonno
