oneshotkiller
So what do we all use to fill the pot and why ? Do those who do this for sport use just one method or do the pest controllers and gamekeepers do it different ? Which one is the main tool you use to control vermin ?? Also why you use this one most ? Edited June 30, 2010 by oneshotkiller

Lloyd90
I dont have any long dogs, or ferrets, but Id love to go out on some days with some If I had the choice I would prefer to use a shotgun over one of my own dogs. My Lab isn't too far off come wild fowling with me but the spaniel is far off from being my lil hunter yet

Vince Green
My Uncle Harry used to decoy pigeons using a .22 rifle. A true countryman he always said a pigeon wasn't worth wasting a shotgun cartridge on. So he would wait till they landed and shoot them on the ground. Then he would slit them down the front and cut just the breast meat off before the maggots got in it Then he would leave the rest of the carcass inthe hedge for the fox. His logic was that the fox is a lazy animal and if you leave it the dead pigeons it will leave the chickens alone. He begrudged using a shotgun for anything if he could get it with his .22 Edited June 30, 2010 by Vince Green

He begrudged using a shotgun for anything if he could get it with his .22 I'm with Uncle Harry, Pigeons with my FAC Air, quick slit down the middle, out with the breast, pan fry for 90secs on each side, then 10minutes in a 100deg oven.... smegging delicious I have FAC Air, LR and Shotgun. In order of preference it would be LR, FAC Air, Shotgun at the mo but once we can go ferreting again the shotgun will get more outings.
