Stamford
My spanner is also doing the same at the moment, she's only 10 months and finished her season about a month ago.... Same as yours really, went off her food, kept hiding soft toys, carrying them around wherever she went and also started to produce milk... Mine has started to get back to normal now, she's been like that for the past 3 weeks, if yours is snuggling up to toys ( mothering etc ) then take the toys away and give her some mental stimulation to take her mind off it. She'll be fine, we're going to get ours speyed as soon as she's better in herself so it doesnt happen in the future.. ATB Stamford
apache
1. will she get phantoms after every season If she's had three in a row it's quite likely she'll carry on having them. 2. would it be best to spay her If you don't intend to breed from her then yes. Intact female dogs are prone to womb infections which can be very serious and possibly kill the dog (pyometra). She will get no more phantom pregnancies. She may get some protection against mammary tumours as well. Also no seasons to deal with [they all come at the worst possible times]. 3.will they cause her any harm Probably not, although it can go on for a few weeks at times and is unpleasant for the dog. You have to be careful if you have kids as the hormone changes can make the bitch snappy when she isn't normally. False pregnancy can be effectively treated with a product from your vet called Galastop.
