Norrie
Hya chaps anyone got a boat i have ive got norman 23 narrow beam its on the trent at newark i love boating Hiya, Till about a fortnight ago, I had a Seahog Shortie called Alien One, coupled to a 4 stroke 50hp Mariner O/B with the Bigfoot Gearbox...had all the toys, DSC VHF radio, Lowrance F/F, and Lowrance Plotter, spent loadsacash on it. Did my PBL 2, VHF course etc....I owned her for 8 years, and knew her history since new... I used her for sea angling, mainly in the Sound of Mull after Common Skate., and had a few too, to 176lbs aboard her...BUT, when I discovered shooting, she had to go to finance my new love.. Here she is on a cold wintery day....Great fun... Edited August 13, 2010 by Norrie
Gobfish
Got a quicksilver twelve and a half foot inflatable with a 40hp two stroke outboard, boat is only rated for 25hp but it's a lot more fun with the 40.... Roll it up and chuck it all in a trailer and it goes anywhere, only really used it for mackerel fishing..... and I don't suppose it qualifies with the REAL boat enthusiasts ..... but I like it...... a lot

Do you watch the "water boatman alan heard" on sky or "mathew corbett" sutties second dad ha ha travelling the uk on narrow boats ? Yeah, living on a boat is really good fun, and there's a good community here. I have a squirel woodburner that does my hot water too, so I spend a lot of time scavenging wood. A chainsaw is essential. Have you tried a diesel boiler, like those you get for lorry cabs? I think you might get away with one of those in a fibreglass boat. I also use an oil filled radiator when it's not cold enough for the woodburner. Haven't seen the narrowboat programme on the telly. I don't have sky. Frenchieboy
My family used to own and live on a converted Naval Pinnace called "Espior" back in the early/mid 70's on the Thames at Kingston on Thames. I used to worked as a fully licensed Board Of Trade skipper on the passenger steamers out of Kingston, Windsor, Reading and Oxford (Salters Steamers) I worked on the following boats:- The "Goring", The "Streatley" The "Sonning" and the "Mary Stewart", I also worked part time on the Caversham Lady and the Caversham Princess at Pipers Island at Caversham Bridge in Reading! - It was a great life but only seasonal. More recently, up till about 14 years ago I used to own and work a small "20 foot" shrimp boat called the "St Margaret" at Fleetwood!
