How often do you CLEAN it?

It could be a build up of carbon on the block

Les :good::)

ive had it to bits lez and cleaned it all up. its as if the fireing pin hasnt got anough power in it to hit the cartridge hard anough

to set it off

when ive checked the cartridge after missfire there is only a slight mark on the center of the shell

are you letting the 'bolt' go forward on its own, if you hold it and slowly let it forward it doesnt 'smash' forwards it wont clip onto the cartridge and wont fire..i have done it a few times when trying the load quietly!

Having recently bought a Hatsan (Or Hatstand as they are commomly known as)I have had a number of issues although it is probably a rogue gun from new?

My son had the same problem with the firing pin last Sunday at a clay shoot. Small depression on the percussion cap, gun misfires? Wait 30 second unload ... reload gun fired. Gunsmith said its possibly a pin misalignment!!! TJ91 is indeed correct, depress the load button on the side and let the working parts slide home to engage the cartridge.

Hatsans dont like 21g loads, not enough power to reload, 28gs are the minimum because of the heavy action on these guns. Sometimes the gun tries to double load causing numerous stoppages.

Yes, you have to clean these guns (as with all firearms)well and oil in the right places where necessary, but dont over do it!

Under a 3yr no quibble warranty so its gone back to Edgar Brothers via the gun shop I bought it from.

You certainly get what you pay for. Now hanging the expense and going for a Benelli Montefeltro, beautiful action, light and very innovative in regards to the semi auto action as its not gas operated :good:

Your welcome to pop round to mine and compare if you like. Might be the spring in the trigger group. I have issues with mine when i leave a bit too much oil behind when cleaning.

Drop me a PM if you wanna bob round. In most of the day.

I have to disagree with the 21grm statement. I use 21grm Hull comp X all the time in mine with no issues. They are only 65mm carts to. Mind you mine has a 3" chamber. I think the 3 1/2" chambered guns are a bit fussy about the carts that they will cycle.

Thats Interesting :hmm: I was told by the gunsmith that these guns needed 28g + to cycle properly. I tried 21g express which I have always used and it was an epic failure, it got so bad the gun didnt even eject the cartridge after firing, christ, did I get some looks at the clay shoot!!! Perhaps Hull Comp x are better? The action is stiff and heavy, but I didnt expect Benelli standard for this price. As I mentioned before, I think I had a rogue gun, "it just didnt work"? :good:

Mines a 3" and I use 3" 30g carts the problem I'm having at the moment is that once fired and the spent cart is ejected the next to be chambered sometimes catch on the lip of the bore as if it starts to chamber before the cart is fully up.

Ive got a 20g 3 shot semi and it wont cycle the last round, it only gets about half way out the mag any ideas?

Hi gilo17, what gun are you using and what load in the cartridge. Most semi shooters use 28g loads and up, some are even are ok with 24g loads. The Browning Golds can handle 21g loads and some on this forum have been good with various cartridge brands such as the Hull Comp X. I had a Hatsan Escort and it didnt like the 21gs... Express Cartridges! Gun dealers will also tell you to use around the 28g for a good clean cycle of shots without any issues. I took back the Hatsan and invested in a Benelli....lovely gun. Suggest you try a different cartridge or up the load, thats if your using 21g. I would aslo ensure the action is lightly oiled in the slide. :good:

take the whole thing to pieces give it a good clean up, fine wire wool over the places where acrbon builds up and then lightly oil it on all metal parts that arent coated

my escort has 3" chambers and does cycle 21g loads but i use mainly 30/32gram loads

it soaks up the recoil of 3" 50gram loads well and i have only ever had 1 out of welll over 5000shots not recycle properly which was down to me not cleaning it well enough

make sure you tighten the cap well (at the foreend)

hold the gun tight in your shoulder

make sure your o-ring on the tube is in decent nick

and check for the clip on top of the tube..if broken it will not chamber the shells properly

Have you tried taking the block out checking for gunk? Is it just one brand of magnum you've tried?

What load cartridge have you been using and how old is the gun?

As TJ says, make sure you hold it tight in your shoulder when you fire it, and that you don't have a thick layer of clothing seperating you from the gun.

Check the O rings if you have a cycling problem, even if you don't see any imperfections in the rubber stick the spare one on and give it a go.

If it's an older model Escort you might need the uprated spring they put on the new ones.

Older ones are notorious for cycling problems.

Interesting reading, mine is throwing two cartridges out of the tube on the first shot, resulting in a jam. At the mo I'm using 65mm 28grm RC Professional Game. I usually use 67mm Prestige but the shop had run out. Why does it try to feed two as I'd like to remedy it. The gun has been stripped and cleaned, although not with wire wool.
