pc help photos

hi folks. is there a simple way i can delete double photos of my pc. we have got lots of double images on the pc from me being lazy.

 

down loading and then not deleting images off the camera and so on. its using windows vista if that heips

 

any help would be great. thanks

sorry mate thats the only way I can think of,can't think of any other way to delete multiples.It's a real pain when you let them build up.I can take hundreds at a time and narrow them down to a few dozen then move them to my external hard drive,it's all time, either at the time or now.

Do you mean you have several folders which contain photos and some of them are in more than one folder?

 

If the duplicate copies in each folder are exactly the same (I.e. you don't have an original in one folder and an edited version with the same filename in another folder) then do this:-

 

- Copy all the photos from each folder to another NEW "master" folder

- When it tries to copy a duplicate it should say something like "Do you want to overwrite existing file" etc. I would say "No to all".

- You should then have a "master" folder with a single copy of all files.

- Backup the original folders to some external drive (just in case).

- Delete the photos in the original folders.

 

Backing up the original folders before you delete anything from them is the most important thing.
