nttf,s "floaters"

These are the "easy to make yourself" floaters, I use.

I also have some more sophisticated, with adjustable height and crocodile clips for the wings, but they are harder for DIY.

There are two designs, the main difference being the wing holding system.

One is the raised end of the wire (1"), which sticks into the wing joint.

The other is the coiled end of the wire (2") and the wing fits into this.

There is a main shaft as long as you want, with a point at both ends.

The shafts are made of fibre glass, tent pole material or thin metal.

The supporting arms are one piece of wire between 34" and 36" long.

Using 34" as an example;

wire end is bent up 1".

Then a straight 8".

Then a 45 degree down bend for 8".

Then a 45 degree up bend for 8".

Then a straight bend for 8".

wire end is bent up 1".

This is fitted to the shaft approx 11" from the end.

Most fittings seem to be another piece of wire bent round the fitting and the shaft.

You could add some solder or weld, depending on what materials you were using.

I hope the explanation ,coupled with the pictures will help you. <_<

Perhaps some of the other DIYers, will post some ideas.

William, I thought I had uploaded them here.

I don,t know any other way to do it.

Fishingworks has stopped permitting the posting of pictures to other websites as its extended their permitted bandwidth.

I now have to move my Photo Album somewhere else. :D

I can still see the pictures, I assume thats because they are still in my "memory".

nttf, please PM me your email adress and I will email the pictures to you. ;)
