down the line

hi guys whats the best chokes for down the line clays i got o/u. would it be 1/2 and 3/4 0r full and 3/4 any help

most people i know who shoot DTL & ABT use full and full or super full (what ever that is) but full and 3/4 should do you fine (3/4 in first barrel) I have shot DTL a few times but find it fairly boring....

Most of the guys I know have 1/2 and full in. I shoot 1/4 and 3/4 but I'm a wuss. Like all these things till ur shooting 280's and up it probably makes less deference than u think ?

hi thanks for fast reply. its my local clay shoot and its only dtl in winter and then sumer dtl and sporting. what do you use yourself for clays

I shoot 1/4 and 3/8 for sporting I was given these chokes (teague ported) and haven't changed them since...really only shoot sporting now....

1/2 and 3/4 is more than enough for DTL. No point handicapping yourself by sticking too tight a choke in

yes, but every choke will pattern differently with every cartridge try them out and see if it makes a big difference to your scores.

1/4 & 3/8 OR 2 3/8's is plenty, tighten up if your slow,

you might ,but the quicker you get your shot off the better.1/2 and 3/4 as has been said will do just fine.

I used my semi auto for DTL today with 1/2 and still got some good breaks when I needed the second shot

1/4. Choke breaks the target for me first shot and second im sure 1/2 would be fine to 50yrds

1/4 bottom 1/2 top will hit everything providing you take them early enough. For extra confidence put a seven in the top barrel. A chip is still a kill.A month or so shooting DTL will have you so bored that you will take up your sporting again with added joy. from Auntie.

Or move onto the proper trap disciplines

 

By the way I shoot 1/2 and 3/4 at ABT, OT and UT and don't feel handicapped in the slightest. As Auntie says a chip is still a kill, or to put it more correctly a visible piece

right guys the clays was flat and fast. most people was getting 3 - 6 at best out of 25. when it was our turn i hit best having 14, next person had 13 then like 8 and less. i used 1/2 and 3/4. missed the first few so i changed to top barrel which was 3/4 and hit everyone i.e 14. on my next go i swapped the chokes put 3/4 in bottom barrel and only manage 3. very strange.

Try full in the Top barrel and shoot that first, I was advised not too waste the second cart until i was hitting 20+ with the first barrel.

Is your bottom barrel shooting to the same point of impact as your top barrel?

Pattern plate mark a point aim as you would in DTL fire top then try bottom and compare
