henry d
I went out to zero my new scope/rifle yesterday, but as it was Baltic and too windy I only managed to bore sight it at 25yds and fire off 10 rounds, which was a bit of a scare after a .222  bit more of a kick ! So today I set off early and set it out at 100 ydsand it wasn`t too far off.Ended up with 25 shots and learned a bit about the 6.5 Mmmm are we gonna have fun Here she is..... henry d
It`s a T3 6.5x55 varmint with Meopta Artemis 3000 3-12x56 scope harris bi-pod. Here`s the last 4 targets, the first one is in the bin as I was still adjusting the scope(shotgun pattern) I`m quite pleased with the pattern so far as thats 35 rounds through it so with time, practice, handloads and the moderator(soon as I can afford it )I think it will become better again

henry d
Nah,bog standard synth. The cheek piece is good though, and you could get a yellow duster inbetween the barrel and stock.
tommy trucker
are you using factory rounds m8 if so whatyou using???
Dunkield
and you could get a yellow duster inbetween the barrel and stock. I never thought of cleaning down there, better tell the missus she has missed abit  I was only wondering how it was going the other day H, how is the Meopta? It looks the part. Are you using Federal's? I haven't found any factory ammo that works as well as 140grn Classics (I can't afford the Premiums, I would imagine they are better still)
henry d
TT - Federal "power-shock"140gn,but like your self I intend to reload. Stuartp - The Meopta is gr8.It has it`s own range finder which works at all magnifications,if you look on the web site you`ll see the way it works. Dunkield
Yeah I have that reticule in my 7x50, it is set for Roe I beleive, I don't actually use it I have range finder if I am unsure about distance. Have you tried taking a shot zoomed right out and then one zoomed right in? I would be interested to see how that goes.
henry d
Target 3 was 8x and 4 was 12x magbut the wind was getting up which was why,I hope, the shots were off to the left. I prefered the 12x as it felt as if it was easier to steady on the bull.

dunganick
100 yards fister (you can see it written on the targets) nice to see the scope on there now. there is much to come out of that rifle/cartridge combo. yet. once the barrel has been run in a bit better, and you have had a chance to either find a better suiting factory load or work up your own homeload, you will be shooting sub MOA (@100) groups every time. nice looking setup you have there, glad you had a chance to try it.....its just been raining here all day
Dunkield
In fairness it should shoot a bit better when a few shots have gone through it as well, and H gets a bit more used to firing it.
Frank
Great looking set up their henry . I want one Im hopefully going for a 6.5 within a year or so, it will be my 3rd rifle, its hard enough to get a 2nd rifle here at times never mind a 3rd  . Thats good grouping for the first time the rifle has been out, it will get better as time goes by im sure. The best of luck with it, be sure to post any stalking sucsess, if thats what your using it for.
henry d
Thanks for the replies everyone,it has been a steep learning curve for both of us. I knew that it would kick as I have only shot a .222 since my Navy days(7.62)and I knew several times I was waiting for the kick and therefore flinching. Aaaahhhhhhhh young love
The Big Red Fox
Nah,bog standard synth. The cheek piece is good though, and you could get a yellow duster inbetween the barrel and stock. After alot of debating I'ts the best move I made in along time ........Makes hell of a difference Federal have a good Nosler BT range ........But not in the 6.5mm. .............In .223 I personally found the Power Shok range utter ****e ..............Unlike the Classic which this SP replaced  Henry ...........Early days ,early days ..............Have you tweaked the trigger YET ? Devilishdave
Henry my .243 has T8 Moderator fitted and the differance in kick and muzzel flip compared to without it fitted is significant. Dave

Dave I dont think i would want to shoot without a moderator fitted ever again  I must be getting old as i used to shoot all day with no moderator at all. :*)

Dunkield
Actually as very slight diversion to this thread, do you prefer to hang on tight to your rifle as you fire it or just let it go? I would be intersted to see what happens to H's groups if he does one or the other.. My mate insists that you have to grip it really tight, but in a prone position I don't even hold the rifle I just rest the but on my crossed arms (if that makes sense) this is subject of a bit of 'pub talk' after any range sessions.
