guest1957
Single looks better on most in my opinion. Double breasted has two sets of buttons and the material crosses over when fastened, single breasted just meets where the buttons are. Dr W
I generally prefer single
Troosers Too
For a blazer, you'd probably be best to go for single breasted. A double breasted one will tend to make you look like the commodore of the Isle of Wight yacht club. "Pink gins all round - what ho!" Enjoy the game! Fisherman Mike
I am lucky enough to be orf to Twikkers to watch England -V- France on 26th and need to get a new Blazer thing is whats the deal single or double breasted??? far as i can tell being no Gok Wan is its either one set of buttons or 2 sets will it matter whats in just now and how do you tell It depends somewhat if one wishes to look the epitome of sartorial elegance and chic and if one wishes to wear the garment fastened or unfastened. If the former the DB Blazer will always look better and can be unfastened when sitting which you will no doubt do when the match begins and tiffin is ceased. Single breasted Blazers are normally worn open and a tad too "***** wedding" for my aquired taste. A well groomed gentleman would always be seen in a DB Blazer. Which looks best...theres only one way to find out... Edited February 16, 2011 by Fisherman Mike

AlistairB
Single for me every time - i think they are far smarter and a much more classical look whether worn with a tie or without, done up or not. AB
woodcock11
Double is definitely smarter and it also has the advantage of being more flattering for the gentleman - how shall I put it - with the "fuller figure". However, keep the buttons simple - no flashy, bling crests etc - unless you have earned them then maybe.......
Chris Bb
Double is definitely smarter and it also has the advantage of being more flattering for the gentleman - how shall I put it - with the "fuller figure". Double breasted make any wearer look like he's a porker trying to hide the fact. Single breasted every time.
Fisherman Mike
Double breasted make any wearer look like he's a porker trying to hide the fact. Single breasted every time. Double Breasted for a Gentleman irrespective of his weight. Nothing looks worse than a bulging wasteline, overtight shirt and trousers exposed by a unfastened single breasted jacket or blazer. Perhaps its best to ask the fairer sex which they would prefer to see their man in

bakerboy
Single breasted very time, always looks smart buttoned up or open Double breasted looks untidy when unbuttoned, and makes you look like a Lardie.

Thunderbird
The easiest way to achieve the 'footballer's wedding' look is to fully button up a single breasted jacket. Especially if it's a black one, accompanied by a black shirt and also a black tie. Greased-forward hair will complete the look. Here's the rule for single-breasted, with the three buttons, going from top to bottom, 'sometimes, always, never.' Double - always buttoned. JonnyR
Isn't a single breasted blazer, in fact, a sport's jacket? If not, what is the difference? I think DB looks smarter. J.

Vipa
Double breasted blazers look incredibly classy and smart..... as long as you are prepared to keep them buttonned up all the time... they look awful undone. Single breasted is, whilst erring slightly towards the more casual, more versatile and probably more comfortable. Paul
