Bobba
Best way to apply a walnut oil to my gun stock Thanks Are there no instructions on the bottle eg mix with wine vinegar and sprinkle over salad!!! Seriously, the instructions on my bottle of parker-hale merely states "Rub lightly on to clean stock and fore end. Leave to dry in a warm dry place" hth
Delbert
what Bobba says Ensure you use a cloth that will not shed fibres old cotton shirts are my first choice. if it is a new gun take a lot of time rubbing in.Initially it will absorb a lot of oil so rub it in wait half an hour and repeat I do it three of four times witha new gun then touch up daily for the next week afterwards weekly for a month and then monthly or as required you will tell when its coming right as the surface builds a patina and a quick wipe will restore it. The old maxim for oil finishes was - once an hour for a day once a day for a week, once a week for a month, once a month for a year, Edited February 27, 2011 by Delbert
