Greys (Sciurus carolinensis)

Yes is the answer.

They are a non indigenous species and under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 it is illegal to release them into the wild.

The only alternative to despatch is keeping them caged for the rest of their days.

Air rifles work well.......

I think it's 93 in the pic but I'm not sure myself now, in total I took 172 off site at this job, yep, it was pretty good numbers, but then again the site was overrun!

They all came out of around 25 acres of about a 65-70 acre country park!

To be fair the Falcon is running at about 26ft lb so not too difficult. But they fall down easier with an air rifle when caged, but I usually use a pistol for trapped squirrel, and they tend to get a bit feisty in the cage so you need to take care with the shot!

ATB!

4.5 days on site and I took 172 in total!

Picture was taken about day 3 I think in my back garden as I had to remove them from site.

Taking the picture(s) (I have a lot more in the series) was an afterthought, but it has gone all round the world and been published all over the place!!

Thanks alot we only see grey's and what a picture by deckers if only we got paid for each tail like the old days but I supose the tree huggers would have a say about it.

Jaws,

There are a number of butchers or restaurants and country 'pubs' that serve meals, that will gladly purchase Squirrels from you from a £1.00 to £1.50 each, if they're fresh and gutted. If you cut off the tails several fly tying companies or suppliers will buy them at.25p per tail. Heck, it pays your ammo bills and makes a contribution towards your petrol or diesel expenditure. Every little helps.
