Jon-Boy
ive been recommended the cz by lots of people, what sort of price am i looking at with a mod?
miffy
I'd go for the quad so that if/when you upgrade to .17hmr you will save yourself some money as all you will need is a new barrel which costs about £120. Get as decent a scope as you can afford. Try different ammo through your rifle to see which groups the best. Practise plenty on paper targets before you take it into the field. Enjoy
Dead-Eyed Duck
CZ 452 .22lr, Best their is for the dosh.  I was on the range today and was getting 1/2 to 1 inch groups using Winchester subs with Parker Hale Moderator. :( I will post pics soon. Axe
Even though I bought the Quad which is without doubt proving to be a worthwhile investment, if money was no object I would buy a Thumbhole Anschutz 1417. Its a cracking bit of kit, comfortable, refined and acurate. It also comes with the best out of the box trigger. Dress it up with scope etc and you'll never look back. If you want budget then go for the CZ and a brookes trigger kit. Not refined but hits the spot. I still love my Quad though, light weight, nice trigger, great action and for a few pennies more is upgraded to any of the rimfire calibres. JJaxeman
Like you I got my FAC through a few weeks back and had the same thoughts I bought a CZ452 .22lr it was the one with a synthetic stock and nikel plated barrell (or paint who knows but looks good) and it has a full lengh barrell, I am most impressed with it and is very accurate put a sako MOD on and your ready to go. I bought mine a CZ452 .22lr Silouhet with Sak mod, swivels, scope mounts, neoprene strap and 1000 round's winny's for £385.00 I had a good scope (Tasco 6-56 x 50) so that saved £120.00. It's the MUTS NUTS for me and I will be getting the same setup in 17hmr when funds availabe. Good luck, whatever you get you will enjoy I'm sure. (Forgot to add put a trigger kit on to from the staes ony $16 delivered from eric brooks, doddle to fit) Cheers Jas Edited March 29, 2006 by JJaxeman

kdubya
Axe mate you have good taste? 1417 luverly little thing light as out in the field and as accurate as an accurate thing can be, not as cheap (cost wise) as cz but hey you cant get a good air rifle for what the 1417 costs and look at it its "pretty" cheers KW

Axe
Keith, SL has one in Thumbhole and as far as i'm concerned, it is the poodles plums. The only down side is the bolt problem and although I learn that this is intentional, it lets the rifle down a little. Easy overcome with a simple check though. Either way, i'd still buy one if I had the money.
miffy
only for the photo ! no mag in ?cheers KW I guessed it was unloaded What bolt problems do they have?
Axe
If you knock the bolt which doesnt 'lock' down, you risk a weak strike. Apparantely they are designed in this way so the shooter can make the rifle safe by lifting the bolt up without having to unload. Good or bad its something you have to bare in mind and thy are fairly sensitive.
