CZ550Kevlar
I purchased a petrol Terios back in May on a "V" plate 39k miles, sketchy documentation for service history so i`m not sure when plugs, filters etc were last done. The point of the post is that since i have owned it there seems to be a while from when you turn the key to when it actually starts, my first feelings were alternator or battery, took it down to Kwik Fit today and they tested everything and the alternator is pushing 14.6volts and battery is 105% so everything there is fine. He said it could be the starter motor is on its way our or just be a slow starter? does anyone have any experience of how quick Terio`s fire up? i`m wondering if it could be worth doing the plugs? i have chucked a bottle of red x in to clean it. Any thoughts from anyone? it`s got to be at least a 3 to 4 seconds of it turning over until it fires.

It amazes me how long the key has to be held in the on position before it starts. In the begining I thought there was something wrong with it but it always starts so I am going to leave it. The mk1 avensis is like that too but a little quicker. Edited October 19, 2011 by kermitpwee

V reg is 1999 so yours is probably identical to mine, sounds like they are just slow starters, i`m going to put new spark plugs in anyway and change the oil as the filter and sump plug are dead easy to get to for a change. Must Change the oil in mine too. Didn't get a chance to look yet, is the filter underneath the engine. I am guessing it would be.

You must have a different engine then mine mate as I can't see any oil filter there, the plugs on ine are under the airbox.
drut
Engines changed about 2000 from HC-EJ(cambelt) to K3-VE(camchain).Later engine has oil filter on RH side as you look into compartment & separate coil packs:top centre of camcover directly onto spark plugs. Regards:D.R. Yep totally true, managed to find my spark plugs well and truly hidden under the air filter box, all four of them. Two have square boxes bolted ontop and the other 2 just have rubber boots on them, i`ll get some new plugs and an oil filter to do abit of maintainance before the bad weather comes in.
