Burning cherry on woodburner

Hi all, have been asked to take a cherry tree down by my neighbour and he asked if I wanted the wood for the girlfriends burner.

I have been told that cherry is no good to burn even when seasoned. Is this true and is there any viable way to get it usable?

Hello, mate.

Please take this with a pinch of salt, but if memory serves me right, my folks had one - quite substantial one - and I think I'm right in saying that it's a wood carver/turner's delight. May be a few quid there for someone, or at least a nice ornament or fruit bowl!

Yes, cherry is very nice to work with and makes lovely stuff (used to do a bit of green woodworking :good: )

However, the tree is pretty small and the stems are only around 10cm so not really much to work with.

Yes as above :good: very tight grained hard wood.Nice colour too. may be worth a bob thats if anyone will give you owt for it.

No reason why you cant burn it  Ask them why you cant burn it & see what they come up with :hmm:

I was just told that it tends to smoulder instead of giving a nice flame, but never tried it so thought I'd check.
