There's some difference. How easy was it to install and tweak the trigger?

Fitting the spring in (There are 4 to choose from, I took the 3rd most powerful), took only about 15 mins, and I used the biggest of the rollers too. Polishing the sear took about 20 mins, but uness you were shooting match benchrest wouldn't normally be necessary. I did it because I happen to have had it stripped and ready to do, and I know how to do it. If you don't know how, don't attempt it as you could end up with a screwed up or dangerous weapon !!

Fitting the trigger kit is easy and can be done by anyone with some punches, a small hammer, and some screwdrives :good:

Concise instructions are included if you don't know how, plus there are videos on You Tube too

Grand job. I'll have a look. In the meantime, get yourself a nice dark tan leather sling instead of that camo contraption. Would set the rifle off nicely :good:

I will be getting a leather sling. The sling that's on it at the moment will be used on my CZ550 6.5x55 Swedish when it arrives. that will be my next project as a fox/deer/English and French wild boar rifle (For Northern European boar I will go for 8-9mm or 338, but that will be another project :good:

I think that a lot of people look at their guns as showpieces, and they look fantastic, others look at them as utilitarian and dont worry about the look, me, i think they are fantastic looking bits of kit that the owner should be proud of putting together, i like the heavy barels, i feel the extra weight, it makes it feel right to me, not toy like.

That said, i carry an escort for a shotgun, a cheap as chips air rifle and still put meat on the table, lovely looking stock though.

  • 2 weeks later...

Today I changed the Bushnell Banner Dusk & Dawn 3-9x50 IR for a Raptor 6-24x50 IR SWAT, I'm also changing the sling from cammo neoprene to a 3mm custom crafted leather one :good:

The Bushnell and the cammo sling I will use on my stalking rifle, and keep the 17hmr for bunnies, corvids, and the odd near fox.

I'll post a photo up once the sling arrives and it's finally looking like the masterpiece it is

I got offered a job by a gunsmith the other night customising rifles and pistols, but can't be *****, would mean registering, and getting a massive safe compared to the gun cabinets I have now, plus then extra insurance too. I said i might be prepared to do the odd one or two for him during a year, but not on a regular time scale, and only at his premises.

I have all the tools to do it except the lathe and milling machine, but those are easy to get.

Gunsmiths hammer and punches, gunsmiths screwdrivers, and a gunsmiths stand/workvice, plus micrometers and vernier calipers etc. (That's just a sample of what I have, my workshop is full LOL)

I've worked on guns for the best part of 40 years, so know what I'm doing, and messing with triggers is best left alone unless you are absolutely sure of what you're doing. I've seen many people either break guns or end up with machine gun semi autos, or totally knackered pulls !!

Plus remember, ANY work on the barrels or chambers usually requires a reproof, and I've seen new barrels fail that too
