Hunter
I popped into the gunshop for a shotgun, as the squirrels were REALLY growing in numbers here, I hit 20 with combined airgun and rifle so far, then I bought the shotgun and have taken 10+ in 3 days so much better for shooting into the trees. I bought a box of 1's and BB's to keep a couple in the belt for close range fox, and the rest are 30gram 6's in fibre wad because I hunt in a nice forest and want to keep it clean. Well I got this gun VERY cheap, and it seems to work well! I dont know much about it, its called a Belgian BLNE? I paid £15 for it, with two boxes of cartridges, £20 pounds and it really works well. All it needed was a good clean with an oily rag.. I have since spent a lot of happy hours squirrel hunting again In the forest

Hunter
Ahhh thas usefull thanks. I know very little about shotguns, but this has sure worked well so far. Baldrick
Hunter, let us know how you get on with the SBS (a nice looking piece, and a good bargain). I'm thinking of putting my OUs to the back of the gun cabinet and investing in a SBS. Keen to find out if scores/bags of squirrels improve..... Hunter
I have never shot so many squirrels in a week. The shotgun has now taken 20 squirrels in a weeks shooting alone. Nice! What shot size do people use for them? im running it off 6's, but im wondering if 5's will hit better?
Baldrick
Try this link to a recent thread on this forum - it should answer all squirrel/ammunition queries: http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/ind...showtopic=19222 Personally I use open chokes and size 5 shot, and it does a very effective job. Don't hesitate to give the little ******** both barrels though, they are tough animals.
al4x
6's are better due to the greater number of shot meaning the pattern is more intense
