laid barley

I think it really depends on which strain of barley is planted. In front of my dads house there is a field of winter barley that is nearly all flat, apart from along the tram lines. This stuff was above waist height till it rained a couple of weeks ago, then the wind blew it flat. A field across the road is much shorter and still all standing. :ernyha:

Ok laid crops ( get your cigs and lighters read fella's as you'll want ot kick back lol )

There are various reasons why crops go down.

1) type of land

2) too much fertilizer..thats why most of the crops that go down the patches will be round the outside of the fields. where the fert. spreader has overlappped patches ( naughty buzzer lol )

3) crop strain... some strains of barley have stronger "straw".

Can't think of anymore...but farmers do spray the crops with a P.G.R (growth regulator that stops the straw gettin too long ) to try to prevent the crops layin down.

all the best yis yp
