How about a bite alarm?

Or a scope mounted lamp using one of the new ultra bright Cree LEDs which will need a dimmer and some clever driver circuitry if you don't go for an off the shelf driver puck?

Maybe build into the lamping set-up a digital caller as well. Shouldn't be too complicated with the calls easily downloaded off the internet.

Well without doing too much of a lamp for you, it will consist of three parts essentially.

A power source (Vin)

A regulator circuit

The LED / array of LEDs

The regulator circuit is the bit you need to get sorted. Cree LEDs can be controlled by PWM which you can use to control the brightness I.e. a dimmer switch.

If you look up on google Cree led driver circuits then you will find loads of examples ( I am on my iPad so can't easily attach one)

Then you will obviously need a housing and possibly a reflector.

To include the caller, the biggest challenge will be reaching the required volume with the space and power envelope you have available.

I will see if I can find a way to draw you a circuit.

First of all are you doing AQA Product Design?

If so make sure what ever you want to do meets the controlled assessments or no matter how much work you put in, it will count for nothing.

Are you in yr 11 this year? What is your specialist area? Resistant Mat? Graphics? Food?

What facilities do you have access to?

The CA's change each year. I will have a look at them tomorrow and suggest a brief to work from then use that as a basis for your question on here.

Hope that helps, send me a message if you want to know anything else.
