Gun shop in Cwmbran

Recommended Posts

Being new to the sport (clay shooting) i went along last sat for a look at the guns and to hopfully get some advice as to what would be suitable. I must say it was nice to be able to look around without being pounced on by a salesman, but when i asked for some advice the responce was not brilliant to say the least, i was basically told i have to buy a gun with multichoke and that i would have to spend no less than £850. This along with the way it was said doesn't make me want to spend money there.

What's wrong with Litts (sportsman) then I always found them very good.

I agree there are a couple of small ones round Cwmbran ades guns and tackle and CSP, if you want something specific the Phil ash in kenfig hill is good also Arthur bales in Cardiff more airgun than shotgun/rifle.

Sportsman always has best prices and stock locally , treetops are planning to open a shop but no idea when it will be open or what prices will be like

TBH it isn't bad advice for a decent MC gun Miroku, Beretta etc you will need to spend that much, you can of course buy a fixed choke game gun, but you didn't ask for a cheap game gun or a cheap pigeon gun, you asked for a good clay gun. AS you said yourself your new, Phil Ash at Kenfig Hill near Bridgend http://www.southandwestcountrysports.co.uk/ is the place i recommend you go, have a browse and a chat the advice may come in a different form but it wont be different advice....perhaps just more sugar coated. Then compare the prices of the guns and decide where you would rather spend your money.

Where are you shooting?

Bought a rifle off Edd a few weeks back, top bloke and very knowledgeable.

Will defo be a returning customer, cheers mate :good:

Phil Ash (South West Country Sports) is also a very good RFD. :good:

Wont give my money to Sportsman (Litts) or Keens, and will only buy cartridges off CS Sporting due to past experiences.

Are you supplying ammo as well Edd ?

Yep.

but to be perfectly honest if price is the main factor I cant compete with the big shops but I do try to keep the price down as much as possible.

Drop me a line if you need anything

Cheers

Edd

Odd I have never had any issue with the guys there even did me a deal when i bought some already seriously reduced shirts, even going in for a can of VP90 they knocked the .99 off the price (probably cant be bothered to count the change) but fine by me. Odd as they knew exactly sho your friends were what they bought and their shopping habbits from such a brief interaction. They must know their customers extremely well....

although i have been shooting (airguns) for donkies years i have always done my buying either mail order or online, buying my last air rifle mail order from uttings just before the laws changed so i had no expeience with local gun shops, in fact up until last month i had never stepped foot inside a gun shop but when the idea of buying a shotgun reared its ugle head it had to be done so i posted on here asking for reccomendations of a south wales gun shop and almost everyone said phil at south & west

i went in a few weeks ago as a total newbie i had never even seen a shotgun in the flesh befoe and phil and his wife where great, as well as the offer of a cuppa as soon as we went in he must have spent an well over an hour going through things with me and my mate, really cant fault his service or prices, i have looked around and his carts are cheap and i got a good deal on the gun i wanted my mate also had a cracking deal on his gun..

for me one of the things i liked was even though he knew i was after a 12 guage sporter for clays and had no interest in buying any other guns (although two weeks later i bought an escort.. whoops!) they where more than happy for me to have a play with the other guns while i waited for my mates to be sorted...
