sako751sg
Weather been pretty keech so hardly getting oot but managed a day last week and then yesterday. First morning plenty does showing, mostly with kids and the other 2 bucks that i did scope didnt make for a shot so went a walk through a bit of the 140 acre wood where the lad had phoned twice the week before to say he had seen a buck cutting about.Walked right through to the valley with does running around everywhere but not a buck in sight and with the midges shocking bad i held back the same way.Was only 100 yards from the Jeep when i spotted a doe with 3 wee fellas running around, and another doe on her own about 50 yards from her but im pretty sure one of the wee lads was hers.Took it pretty canny so nay to spook them too much when a buck appeared straight in front and walked right towards us,so put the sticks up and the gatt rested on them.He was more interested in messing with the kids,so when he presented i put one through the neck and he dropped.A nice wee 6 pointer weighing in at 15kg. Stayed up all night on Tuesday so held out at daylight, with a cracking morning and the birds giving it laldy.Covered aboot 20 miles, but the only buck i saw on mine winded me as soon as i started to stalk into him as i thought he would so after another hour driving to other bits i went back to the 140 acres and spotted a buck working up the valley from the roadside.Wind was keech,so a wee drive and a half mile detour on foot found me in where i thought he would be but the cover and noise i was making was a nightmare with it being so still. As happens too often, the first i spotted him was about 20 yards in front of me with his white **** bobbing away so i set up incase he stopped but nay chance.Ive had 15 from here since April so didnt think there would be many left but went a walk along the valley and from the high ground i saw another buck just making his way back to the fund bushes for a lie up.I had to make up around 250 yards in full view but its pretty straight forward with being a lot higher than him,and although he was always having a wee look i got the range doon to 80ish,set up the sticks and waited for the shot.He was walking along a wee burn, and scraping and scratching and on the squeeze he dropped down and out of sight.Waited a five minutes, and went down myself so gralloch and drag him back, but after a ten minute search i was left scratching the heed, and although he knew he was there i went up for Rab.Straight away he was in the burn, and within seconds he was pulling a leg, with the buck totally submerged and hidden with the growth.Again a wee six point heed but a bigger beast weighing 18.5kg.The drag back was a nightmare, over half a mile and it was sweltering withoot a breath of wind but well worth it. Held back oot at 5ish with the .17HMR for a few rabbits.Very breezy by this time,so set up the cradle on the Jeep and sat nailing them when they were coming oot.Not ideal as the barley is pretty high and the majority were unshootable unless the were sitting up but ended up with 7 good sized ones.Only missed one,and with the wind and shooting out to 120 yards the wee rifle has showed again what a good bit of kit it is. The End.

sako751sg
Amazing pictures and great write up Sir, very well done indeed. Lee Cheers fella. Another fantastic read mate Where do all those bucks come from ? is the surrounding ground not shot? I love to see pics of that valley , truly stunning scenery. Looks a good piece of kit that cradle on the motor door !!! Cheers fella. The surrounding places are shot but the woodland around is a good bit older so plenty of cover to keep a good head of roe.Only shoot 3ish does off it a season so plenty to draw the lads in rut time.Every buck get the bullet with it being trees and the void is soon filled, and I know of another 4 still on it.The valley itself is a mixture of hardwoods, evergreens and fund bushes and probably go for about 5 miles and there's a wee bit at the top that I get a big old fella every year and the next year a big old fella has moved in again so I'm presuming it's a prime spot. Cradle is spot on fella, from sitting stationary or driving around with it on it gives an excellent swivel rest. Nice read mate well done... And that Zeiss set up looks better every time i see it!! I have just got back from Germany looking at all the new Zeiss products coming out this year at the factory what a place Dave!!! It was like kids in a sweet shop with us lot there. Again well done mate. SGS Cheers Alex.Scope superb and in low light with higher mag there is quite a big difference from the Nightforce so well pleased. The only downside is a cant get flip up cover for the objective,or at least not yet.Must have been good to see the new kit in the flesh, and enjoy a few beers. nice one gaji gid read and pictures i suppose the dug is looking good the weather is **** here chucking it down and no looking very gid for the weekend you still getting a gid price for yer roe from the game dealer Cheers Andy.Rab showing his age a wee bit but still like a pup when he hears the guns coming oot.Lashing here the now and nay looking good for a good while, will get the rods oot instead hopefully. Still getting £3 the kilo, and that's picked up from the door fella which is handy.
