I am sure you have all heard about the drought in East Scotland well it looks like we are getting some strange visitors enjoying the heat wave, first of all last week on a Partridge drive a client shot a Quail ( 1 of over 30 seen ) and the next night on a Duck flight a client shot a Carolina Duck.

Has anyone else seen or heard about Quail in the Uk.

The carolina is probably a decendant from an escapee off my dads wildfowl collection. We had a hen bird escape the enclosure and nest somewhere in the wood next to it, this was about three years ago. She raised half a dozen young and came back down to join the ponds with them, but they all left eventually.

I guess you could call just about anything an escapee. We've got free flying birds that are not native to this country in our collection but they never go anywhere. Theres nothing stopping them flying away, would we be liable to "penalties" if they did? :D I dare say there are hundreds of waterfowl collectors across the UK in a similar position.
