hello there

i have joined this board because i am about to try and buy my first ever air gun and go shooting in my farmer friends field and help him control vermin that are a nuisence to him all the time.

i have been fishing many times over the years and found that it is really good to help you relax and that. the biggest thing i've caught is a trout :D but realy want to go and try catching big fishes by sea fishing.

i haven't got much money but may be able to find enough after i have bought furniture for my bedsit to go on a weekend break somewhere to go fishing.

my cousin says that i can borrow his fishing gear but wondered if anyone knew where to go for good beach casting or fishing off a pier. i also want to know if i need a licence and that because i don't want to get in trouble again :D

thanks colin

Hi There I don’t go fishing that much but I’m getting back into it now. Iv got a cheap rod and cheap tackle but it does me fine. Iv got mates who use all the gear but I still find sitting on a bank float fishing the most fun. When that old float goes under it still gets my heart going after all this years I don’t know much about sea fishing but it sounds great.

Good Luck Good Fishing :D

thanks bigdave i will try to enjoy myself and just hope the weather is ok when i go!

I like fishing with floats as well and really relax a lot when i'm doing it.

When i was small me and my friends went fishing with just line and a hook and would not have proper weights and floats but would use stones and twigs instead we never caught much but it was great fun and we used to waste many happy days there.

my cousin said that i might be able to go boat fishing with him as his friend has got a trip going in the new year. i am a little bit scared of going on boats and was sick on the ferry once, but i will give it a go

hope i don't fall in :D

thanks colin

ok you do not need any licencse to sea fish (iv'e been a sea angler for over 20 years) thats the good news

the bad news is that unless you are prepared to go out in a boat these days there aint much left in our waters (over fishing comercialy etc)

still the bristol channel doe's through up some big cod every winter 20lbs +

and some rock marks around balcary in scotland can produce in the right conditions

check out angling times/sea angler reports but don't take them too seriously else you will get pi**ed of travelling around just to blank

night time usually offers the best sport in the UK with fish moving closer to the shore depends on where abouts in the country u r

i live near bolton lancs and anglesy/north wales are about the best spots but we are moving into a slack time as summer species are nearly gone but winter ones not here yet november should see some codling move inshore hopefully :D
