rocksaplenty Posted September 28, 2012 Report Share Posted September 28, 2012 I’ve been looking at the cost of installing some solar panels on scaffolding on a small piece of land that I own. Given that the actual costs of panels are dropping all the time to the extent that having the panels installed by a ‘company’ specialising in this sort of thing are 3 times that of just buying them and getting them fitted. Is it possible to just buy the panels direct from the manufacturer, then get a qualified electrician (whose been on the solar panel fitting course) just to connect up. al4x Posted September 28, 2012 Report Share Posted September 28, 2012 indeed for 7 panels sounds extremely cheap though maybe the economies are having to come down now the feed in rates are lowering, so do you pay nothing for electric or is it only over the period they are producing electricity that you save?
