me I would like th HS2000 in 9mm flavour I have shot this many times before and it is a great bit of kit see below:

as for a compact/ backup pistol this would be my choice:

and for fully automatic pistol there is only one the fully automatic 9mm Glock 18 machine pistol :

I've just thought of another, one I've never owned or fired. The .455 Webley - classic.

I paid about the same. What a lovely pistol, the blueing on mine was excellent for what is supposed to be a combat pistol.

The Colt 1911 is pretty highly regarded. The real question is "for what use" If I were just plinking a .22 target is great, if I were concerned about stopping power, the .45 is the best in my opinion. It can loadesd down to minimal recoil and still has lots of energy. The 1911 can be had in lots of models from plain jane to fully customized.

If it's a self defence gun you're after then what about the .44 Special ? Big, soft cartridge and revolver reliability and simplicity.

I'd be interested to know how many posters here are just dreaming from what they've seen on telly and books and filums, and how many miss what they used to own.

I'd have my Glock 22 .40 cal back in a flash, followed by my CZ85 in 9mm (a rust bucket but nice to shoot), follow this with my S&W 686 and Sig P220 in .45acp. You can keep the Desert Eagle. It was fun to shoot but uber fussy on reloads.

I'm sure Lorraine would have her Glock 22 and IMI Jericho back in a flash. Not sure she liked the S&W 4506 in .45acp too much but did like her S&W 686.

From memory, without looking at paperwork:

S&W 586

S&W 686

S&W 629

S&W 52-2

CZ75

Llama 9mm

Ruger Blackhawk

Walther PP

Taurus 357

More when the red wine has worn off.

What was your opinion of the CZ? My 85 sat snugly in my hand and was very pointable. First choice by many at the club for service pistol.
