Saw a guy shooting a shotgun with an electronic trigger a couple of months ago, he had some disability in/with his right hand. Only realised it was electronic when he explained to the ref his battery was down and he was getting misfires.

ha ha need to put a new hampster in the wheel before the next stand lol the Daystate air rifles have electronic triggers so would be interesting to see how they would fit into shotgun mechanisms?

This all further supports the need for people to assist with the upcoming Trigger Freeze research I am conducting. I have over 100 people taking part in it all with varying forms of flinch/freeze, plus a subject group of those without - one of the benefits for those suffering is release triggers. I have been speaking with Alan Rhone on this and he is assisting with subjects for the research. But I do need more subjects. I am self funding this study and in turn it will give facts, not conjecture on the subject, plus look at potential solutions and cures - at the moment release triggers are a solution. If you are really interested in this more I have recently written a piece in Shooting Times on the whole subject and why it happens - the technical wording is focal dystonia of the hand.

Please help and get in touch. All those taking part are receiving packs on Monday this week for an 12 month study, maybe the CPSA should look at these findings when the research is completed and hold on the decision - this research being self funded, is equally unbiased and fact based scientific study.

I have added the article below for people to read - hopefully it worked.

A certain B class shooter in norfolk wont be very happy about this.since getting a krieghoff with release trigger he has gone from shooting scores in the 60s and 70s to the 90s.

The B Class Shooter you are referring to has been a member of the CPSA for approximately 25 years and apart from once being in AA was always a very competent A class shooter until the ‘evil’ trigger freeze kicked in.....and is one of many shooters who has struggled to use a traditional ‘pull’ trigger for over fifteen years and it has been a major disability. You can no doubt imagine not only the embarrassment whilst shooting with comments from referees and shooters alike inquiring as to why he didn’t shoot at a target, but never being able to reach his potential with poor scores and endless disappointment week in week out, year in year out.

He had contemplated given shooting up completely until a friend whose problem has already been discussed on this forum introduced him to the release trigger.

Suffice to say people have now been able to see the ‘true’ shooter.

Unless you have suffered this ‘affliction’ or know of a friend who suffers, it is difficult to imagine what actually happens to a shooter who physically is unable to ‘pull’ the trigger and perhaps even more difficult to understand why it is easier to use a ‘release’ trigger.

We are at a loss to understand why this has now become an issue, and can only imagine the irrational fear of some referees who may have voiced an opinion, on what grounds we do not know. All shooters comply with the rules and never load a gun until they have entered the shooting position and are ready to call for the target and the gun is facing down range, irrelevant of the type of gun being used. You are quite right he is not a happy bunny.

Dead easy just replace the mechanical trigger (which releases a spring loaded pin) with a linear actuator and a button or perhaps a small coil like a relay an electronic safety can be added as well as the traditional type
