leeds chimp
Just wondering if anybody could help me with this? I'vd just drove home from work and i've got a knocking noise when i turn the steering wheel at low speed and when stopped and going over a speed hump like the metal has run out of oil or something...like a clunk every now and again Looking online could be the droplinks anti rollbar links or the roll bar bushes....but that means nothing to me Anyone got any idea of cost for this...or anything else it could be (or will sort out a couple of days shooting if someone could fit it for me?) cockercas
I had it on my old vtr. Turn the wheel and it would clunck over a bump clunck. It was on lowered springs tho and it was the spring turning.
Cannon
Track rod ends aren't expensive and the labour involved should be minimal. You could do it yourself in 20 mins.
kent
this might be two things. Clunking from lock is a driveshaft wear indicator. Park on a flat tarmac surface set of on full lock left hand down then again right hand down, this confirms it and indicates the handing. Clunking over speed bumps could be wear elsewhere but its far from unusual to hear clunks going over such things.
al4x
Track rod ends aren't expensive and the labour involved should be minimal. You could do it yourself in 20 mins. just get the tracking checked afterwards or you will be down a set of front tyres fast unless you have got it right by luck!, Best option to check its the track rod ends is to turn the wheel to full lock so you can see the end and get someone to rock the steering wheel, any play is a sign to change them
hcarlos
just another thought for you im sure it sounds the same problem as my brother had we checked all the above but in the end found out it was a snapped suspention spring on the front (might be worth a look ?). jackinbox99
All the suggestions here could be correct and all of them are pretty cheap in their self to fix, but you dont want to end up replacing bits only to find out its something else. Our 307 was making a clunk over bumps from the front drivers side... first point of call for me was to swap out the drop links as they are £10 a pair and litterally a 10minute job. Still clunking, springs were fine so I had to then swap out the suspension top mounts. Only a £10 part but about 2 hours work in total. That fixed it as it was one of the top mounts had completely come apart. If its the suspension spring, then i did one on another 307 a few months back and the spring was 30quid. Took about 1hr to fit.
MM
think i paid about 80 quid
leeds chimp
been down today and he said its not a major problem and nothing really to worry about... Said its the banana joint bar and its very common on vaux...could replace it but looking at 1 hour each side labour plus parts...between £150 and 200....but he said not to worry at all....
