I don't think anyone said it wasn't possible, just not as easy as some claim on here

Anyway it's been fun to read, so keep it going lads

ATB 425

totally agree, even si pittaway( and he is a top class shot) struggled to put 5 pellets into a 5p size target, but all to their own,but if i,m not honest i have also done 14 shots and found it easy

I think you should prove you can't do it Evo, make a video and put it on here.

Put up or shut up.

timmy, i think even you and i know i would not be able to do it and thats even considering what a good shot i am upto and including 40 yrds(cant beat self praise), but lets be honest about this ,,it was not me who was boasting just how easy it was to do ,

i use a .22 and even at 32 yrds i would struggle to put 10 pellets in a 5p piece target,

i will look through my targets and see just what i can find but as you know i,m only the person who found what was being said hard to believe.

one thing i have noticed tho is the two ops in question must have been busy trying because they have not suceeded yet because no videos have appeared

never mind

I must say I'm a bit fed up with this ****,I put a post up about how good my new gun is and it's turned into a b1tch fight, surley you must all have something better to do,something more positive to contribute,I have had the worst 2 and a half years of my life ending in a 5 week nightmare that ended horribly, but maybe that makes me realise that there's more to life that sniping at each other, God someone made a casual remark saying that he can do X with his gun and 77 posts later it's handbags at 40 yrds and a 5p piece.just chill for f sakes

calm down ,calm down,

said the scouser

I know I can do 5p sized groups at 35 yards with my prosport 7 times out of 10. With the S200 it's 8 out of 10. That's outside on my garden range. I'm certain there are many lads out there half my age, with better eyes and more control who can do a lot better than me. I accept that I'm not as good as I'd like to be, these young snots are leaving me behind. But, you and me Evo belong to a generation that thought being able to hit the end of a tin can at 25 yards was good. I'm happy to accept that these youngsters can shoot, SOMETIMES!

They might never get close enough, or know what to do when they've shot it but some of them can shoot and I'm not going to put my money on old farts like you and me against a young whippersnapper just out of nappies.

Don't get uptight, don't argue, just remember the story of the 2 bulls.

The young bull and the old bull were in a field at the top of the hill.

The young bull spotted a field full of heifers in the valley and said,

"Let's run down there and **** one of them heifers!"

"No!" said the old bull, "Let's WALK down and **** them all!"

Get older.

Get wiser.

Regards

Tim.

ok just to show you that i cant do it here is a video of me target practising in my back garden, i video,d this to keep a record of my pellets capabilities straight out of the tin,the targets where 55yrds 165ft away and with no wind due to being surrounded by my high fence, the first five shots where using the daystate Li 14.3gr pellet and as said straight from the tin,the second 5 shots where taken using the JSB exact 15.89gr 5.52mm pellet, these are my favorite pellets for hunting and as you will see i put 5 pellets very close together

this video was taken in november 2012, i will do a video 2moro at 40 yrds to see if i can put 14 pellets in a 5p piece (very much doubt it tho)

the gun used is my daystate huntsman classic .22 bought new in 2012 from the midland game fair, i am using a harris bipod also in the prone position

just thought i would show you what the gun and my favoured pellets are capable of,,,,cheers evo oh and no shakes lol

Nice shooting Evo, particularly that second group. If that's 55 yards you should **** 14 at 40! You've got 5 in a 5p there.

i,m gonna have a go 2moro mongrel and video it just to see if i can do it,i,ve got one of the lads coming round to zero his rifle in so i,m gonna give it a go lol, doubt i,ll do it but it wont be for the lack of trying

if my rifle was .177 (smaller pellet ) i would feel a bit more confident ha ha but the old geezer with have a go , it will be interesting to see if i can do it,i will video me shooting and the target in the distance and leave the video running so all can see no editing has been done

prob make a fool of myself as usual but who cares,

How about some video? Just to prove the bit of video?

Oh what the hell!

I'm having a beer, go and have one yourself!

i dont drink timmy, own a pub aswell lol but i,ll raise a cup of tea to ya mate :drinks:

Tea will do nicely.

Maybe you should try .177?

A 5p is 18mm in diameter, the same as 3 .22 pellets or 4 .177 pellets, working on the theory that the middle of the pellet is the POI, then it is 17% easier to stay within the 5p with .177 than .22.

That's keeping every shot within the ring drawn around the 5p.

Of course that is assuming that the ring is drawn tight on the circumference of the coin but that depends on the pen or pencil you use.

The larger the diameter pen or pencil, the larger the standoff from the coin, dependant of course on the angle of nib or inclination of pencil sharpener. Difficulty getting round the finger holding the 5p may affect the true circumference of the ring as well.

What a minefield!

Basically we all have the same problem.

We all want to get in a tight ring as often as possible.

A small weapon makes it easier to get in that tight ring.

A larger weapon makes it more difficult to get in the same size ring but will be more satisfying.

Sometimes the ring may be a bit larger than you think making it easier for your larger weapon.

Either way, having your weapon properly lubed will help, as will controlled breathing and a firm but relaxed grip.

Don't jerk! A gentle squeeze at the last minute is all that's needed to send your load on its way.

Follow through is important, keep your weapon pointing downrange until you know the load has gone.

Happy shooting!

Well I'm now completely baffled over this thread but pleased its taken a more positive direction. Evo, if you can drop 5 shots at 55 yards into that hole, you have proved my point. I would not find it hard to believe you can do 14 consecutive shots at 40 yards. Very nice shooting :good:

As a rule of thumb i dont believe anything thats said over the internet its just talk for a laugh so dont have an opinion at all I dont doubt he did it. Looking at the actual claim there can be many interpretations of what actually is IN a 5 pence. A 5p is 18mm dia or just under, a 177 pellet is at least 4.5mm and the hole it makes is going to be bigger so to be IN a 5p we are talking 1 single ragged hole practically, If we are talking just to hit a 5p of 18mm you have a variance as large as 27mm (the width of the pellet clipping either side)

Looking at these videos I dont think any are within a 5p or even close

Its interesting to think about it and what people actually call a hit or a kill :)

Ok Evo so you challenged me. So here it is. I wasn't able to get the range finder to work on the camera, it just blacked out. But there is a PW member on here who will attest that it is 40 yards as he has shot here!! So subject to approval, I would like to be a member of the PW 5p club   Oh and just for Timmytree, I agree with your quote at the bottom of post 83.........I'm 53 yrs with eyesight thats not as sharp as it used to be

Turbo33 excellent shooting bud , i can now safely say i do now believe it can be done at 40 yrds great shooting buddy, was going to have a go today but not had a chance, hope to have a go 2moro on vid in the morning

i congratulate you sir :good: :good: :good: :good:

ps can i just say something,on watching the video a second time it does look to me that you have just fired 14 shots off consecutivly(spealt wrong i know) which did not hit your intended target,of a 5p sized target you have just fired your rifle in the same spot 14 times(if you understand what i,m saying,)

2moro i will try what you have done fireing 14 shots at a piece of paper in the same position then see how big a diameter it is but then i,m going to draw around a 5p piece and then aim my rifle at this target and just see what the difference is

i think your rifle has proved how accurate it is but i will try what was originally asked which is to fire 14 shots inside a 5p target i know what your now saying but i congratulate you on the facinating video, you have proved without a doubt that you can group 14 shots together in a size as small as a 5p piece,

may i thank you for taking the time to video what you have and as said good shooting , all the best turbo33,,,,evo
