Finally, my first pheasant of the season.

Took a quick run out this afternoon to try a bit of high ground before the snow puts the woodcock to lower levels. The area I was shooting is real wilderness wiht nothing to attract a pheasant at all. The nearest field is the best part of a mile away. I heard the wrecking match in the cover and fully expected a woodcock to erupt but to my surprise it was a wily old rooster. Got a few woodcock when I was at it. Made a nice evening. Gale force winds made for some testing shots.

This is Molly now 2 years and 8 months posing with an unusual looking creature which she would not be familiar with.

This woodcock was travelling at a mighty rate when shot and fell some 70 yards away at the large tree in the centre.
