Why do some people find it so hard to be straight?

Well I'm glad you've had a chance to get that off your chest Ironhorse.

I have sought out the permissions I have, I choose to go out shooting and the farmers realise that they get a free service from me and those I choose to take with me.

I've never felt like you do.

I've been lucky on occaisions to have been given shells by the farmer and have had time when one of them has phoned me with a crow problem which I've been able to sort out.

Surely if you are not happy you should move on.

Look I realise there are those of you who are crying out for shooting, but like anything in this life there is good and bad, and it follows there will be farmer s who will take advantage of some of you, I for one will not will not be used by anyone regardless, I enjoy my shooting as much as any of you and have been using a gun for many years, the farmer in question needed help to protect his crops, I will help out anyone if it is in my power to do so, but I would never ever take advantage of anyone to do so is not only morally wrong but it is insulting, so if you allow someone to do this what sort of person does that make you, pour and simple you are as bad as they are, if I allowed myself to be to be as some of you are advocating I would be untrue to my philosophy of life by allowing such a farmer to do what he feels he can, as far as I am concerned this man can protect his own crops now and in the future, and if by being straight with people and not taking advantage of people means I lose shooting or indeed have no shooting so be it I’m sure I can find something else to do at least I can sleep at night , but I do have other farmers that I have a good shooting relationship with and appreciate a fair and trust worthy gun.

A little while back a farmer was crying out for help with a pigeon infestation on his rape, claims of thousands destroying his crop, the farm is near the south coast approximately 20 miles from me so no far but not close either, and as we all know footing the bill for a day’s shooting is down to the individual, it us who pay not the farmer, he allows us to shoot over his land and by doing so he gets a service for no outlay what so ever, but like any partnership it only works well if you work together and also have mutual respect, if one side does not play the game the whole thing falls apart. Ok that being said I contacted the farmer and arranged a visit to look over the aria, the first problem I saw was the size of the fields, one field was originally 3 fields and also there was very sparse cover but the farmer had put out makeshift hides, which were little use, 3 other fields also had little or no cover to enable hide, I had 5-6 visits to this farm but it just could not be shot and the numbers claimed well let’s just say I did not see anything like it, I also spoke to a number of other shooters who had answered the call and were also disappointed, after every visit I had there I would receive a text claiming that 500/1000/1500/even 2000 pigeons had got off the field where I had been, this really annoyed me this guy playing me for an idiot insulting my intelligence , other shooters also had received these texts after they had left, some guys had travelled distance. I asked for hides to be put in certain places but nothing was done. I have many years’ pigeon shooting experience and shoot regularly and being self employed has allowed me to shoot on days that others can’t, but although I love my pigeon sport I will not be insulted by anyone, if I treated men I employ in this manor I would soon be working by myself, so there is the Point. Needless to say mine and my two lads help has been withdrawn, he can continue to use the litter brigade, we will continue shooting where we are appreciated.

It's his farm not yours, he doesn't have to go to the trouble of building hides for you that is your job you're the pigeon shooter. Stop complaining.

Instead of making a snap judgement why don’t you read the whole statement? Then based on the entire comments judge.

Blimey that's a long sentence!

You really feel you've been had over don't you?

I wouldn't like to feel I've been taken advantage of and I don't think I have been.

Perhaps you just got involved with a rogue.

Thing is it is not just me who knows they have been taken advantage of, as previously said I spoke to other shooters who had driven from considerable distances away, who also felt this guy was using them as mobile bangers.

oh dear..think someone needs to get down from their soap box...

I take people out onto my permissions.

I remember watching a field for a few days and then invited a member from on here ....turned up and had about 7 shots in the day....they had all changed to a field 500 yards away.....stop moaning about it and just be glad that you are able to get out at least shooting somewhere which alot of people dont even have that option to do.....

If you dont like it then jog on .....

Taken advantage of? How? Are you paying for shooting? I really don't see how it would be anything to do with self respect..... Unless when you arrive he strips you down to your under crackers and chases you the farm yard with a birch?

He exaggerated big deal, next time just politely decline and let some others have a chance.

I've found in the past which farmers are loyal and phone you first . I always turn up ASAP and put the guilt trip on the farmer if the birds are not there. With these farmers I print a copy of the bags of birds over the year and give with the bottle at Christmas and sometimes shoot the next farm when the other shooter is there before us .

What problem did he have? He went pigeon shooting and the birds didn't jump in front of the gun and there wasn't a ready made hide kitted out with a kettle and some pornos to express the bloke he appears to be?

What is your problem why do you feel the need to be so rude, do you think it makes you big and clever, it may have done in the playground but you’re not in the playground so grow up.

You were the one who started accusing people of not being educated, I suggest you either apologize or stop posting!
