Hodmedod.one
Got some new brass ,do i need to size it before using or is it good to go?? If it is unfired, it should be good to go.
dunganick
however as case capacity will be slightly different to a resized case this can effect loads. My loads work well with unfired but not so well with fireformed and resized brass.
Graham M
Yup, re-size it. You can’t be sure that all the necks will be free form any distortions etc due to mishandling in transit, so re-sizing will at least make everything uniform. I had a batch of new .222 Rem a few years ago. Didn’t bother re-sizing as I thought it would be OK to use straight out of the packet. Spent ages loading only to fin that the bullets wouldn’t fit tightly in the cases. They just dropped straight in without any resistance and I had to empty everything out, pop out the primers and re-size. The air was blue that night. G.M. Claytons Guns
You can take the deprimer rod out of the neck sizing die and just neck size them. Steve
deadeye ive
Although It might not make a difference at this stage I would use a lube in paste form and not spray
dunganick
and i wouldnt sprays tend to dry as a wax and are much harder to put dents in your cartridges with, where as in my experiance, roll pads and other lubricants are quite easy to dent your cases with. deadeye ive
My thinking was not to immerse the primer in lube as it has already been inserted ...........Not done that much reloading myself and I'm using the Lee paste lube but for the life of me Nick i can't see how it can dent a brass case ............However you do bet a build up in the FLS die which has to be removed from time to time . There is no subtitute from learning first hand and in a practicle fashion from someone experienced ........If you don't know anyone there are a few on here who will be glad I'm sure and to which it might be best to start a new thread ..
