rayhallam
when decoying with crows what sort of pattern do you use like pigeon horseshoe or random ray
fabarm gamma boy
theres no actual pattern to follow with crow decoying! Randomly spaced decoys with about 3 to 4ft space between! Works well as they have abit more landing space but any old way will do!
steve_b_wales
As mentioned. No pattern, but I place my decoys about 2-3ft apart and facing into any wind/breeze.
eccles
No pattern really same as Steve. Most of my crow shooting is where the farmers feed their sheep. They come with their feed on quad and spread in straight line about 20 yards from my hide. So my decoys are set in a zig zag line along the feed line. They come back every hour or so spread again. 95 % of our crows are carrion's my best morning shooting this way is 97 in 3 hours. Carrion are evil little ******* lambing time taking eyes of lambs as they are being born.

Sunray
Good advice from the previous posters. One useful thing I discovered in the last couple of years is to put a sentry crow in your decoys. I put a flock crow decoy on a vertical rod about 5ft. high and place it on the nearest edge of the pattern to the hide. I have seen crows drawn from hundreds of yards away. They usually swoop over the sentry and tend to offer a very easy target! Anyone else use a sentry? Chris

fabarm gamma boy
Put em.high up in a tree if possible this works best! As naturally they want to have a good vantange point to keep look out
steve_b_wales
yes mate usually put two out,you right it does help pull them in. :good: If I'm shooting in a field that has fence posts close to my hide, I put a few decoys on the posts, facing towards the decoys on the ground. These 'act' as lookouts. I also place one or two dead birds on floaters, facing towards the ground decoys. These are usually placed approx 20 yards from the decoys. superspark
Hi all, Ive just been asked by a local farmer to come and shoot as many crows as I can that are munching on his rape seed. I normaly shoot from my pop up hide after pigeon. My question is, will any crows be attracted with all my pigeon decoys out as at the moment I have no crow decoys and being bank holiday have no way of buying any until the shops reopen, many thanks for any advice Darren. Bluebarrels
Go through your sock draw and cover your pigeon deeks with black socks, once you've shot a few birds replace the decoys with shot birds BB
