The Ghost
I noticed this in an auction Leeds Bradford area, this has to be a bargain just for the case....estimate £150 to £250 I know nothing about the gun & it is not linked to me in any way but thought someone local may be interested. I have a wooden case like this one for an old side x side, and know they are very rare to find...like the gun as well https://www.easylive...=shotgun Edited March 14, 2013 by The Ghost

browning123
You never know what it's like untill you inspect the gun, check the barrels, looseness, ejectors, woodwork etc etc, If parts are required for a gun of this type/age they would have to be made by a competent gunsmith - and could work out very expensive! I can recall buying a cased Lang single trigger from an auction at a very good price, turns out the single trigger mechanism was not working correctly, I then had to pay to have it fixed by a gunsmith and eventually sold it at a loss! TIGHTCHOKE
Have you submitted a bid?
The Ghost
I have not put a bid on it, it was the leather box that I first liked and grabbed my attention. I have a wooden case just like it, very old and I would like a sxs to go in it. I think the auction house may be well out on price, but know nothing about the price of guns to offer an opinion. I do know that the leather cases go for about £300 on the bay, these are rare now as not many are still about.
mudpatten
For what it`s worth, none of the screw heads have been graunched, normally ******** screws are a sure sign of tampering by an "amateur gunsmith". That fact alone makes it worth a second look.
Mangled99
It's a shame I live in Kent I would be interested in that
Gunnerbob
Looks interesting, guide price could well be a "come and buy me"....with enough exposure it will make its money on the day
kev56
Estimate and actual hammer price + commission can be a world apart.
The Ghost
I was going to buy a victotian framed tile last October from an auction, I had said "I will go up to £250 and no more".....Got it for £11.70 total price. Sold it for £800.00 cash less than a week later.
wymberley
A very highly regarded provincial maker. Father had a beautiful little 2" boxlock. The one photo' in question is a little blurred (to my old eyes) unfortunately, but not withstanding the auction house details (crafty wording) that does look a lot like it could well be a non-ejector. Can anyone see if the extractor is in two parts? The checkering is worn but not excessively so, the action looks tight with the top lever not fully over to central and the strikers appear equally sized with no erosion around their opening. The other major consideration has already been pointed out. That one is worth a punt. Edit: Sorry, for the photo in question you have to follow the link to the auction house. I can see something which looks like a divide at the front of the flats but am not sure if they are the extractor legs. Greenhunter
It looks like a non-ejector to me but I'm no expert and my eyes are not what they once were, however, does anyone else think that the top lever isn't even centered so could indicate a little used gun? matone
Looks like ejector trips filed on the cocking levers to me. Edited March 15, 2013 by matone
wymberley
Looks like ejector trips filed on the cocking levers to me. Still not certain. I looked at the photo of the barrel flats in isolation and the extractor looked to be one piece. However, on the photo of the action, a witness mark on the extracter toe seems to indicate that it is indeed split and I think you're right about the trips. It appears to me that the gun may have been taken down - or fiddled with afterwards - in the fired condition.
matone
Best you can say without appraisal is that it was a very good quality gun when it was made. Edited March 15, 2013 by matone

I am saving for another gun at the moment, I will leave it to the Leeds Massive!I don't like to miss out on a good thing and hope it finds a good home on here and we get some feedback from the buyer.
