rite chaps, after your kind help iv narrowed it down to 3.

warn 8k 12v £534

super winch tigershark 9500 £348

goodwinch 9500 £478.

what do you think, (im guessing you will all say warn)

and do you have to have the big fairlead, or can you have the smaller one as in the picture.

thanks again, lee

this is just getting well confusing now, whats a pully and a snatch block.

also, is there anything else i will need that doesnt come with the winch, bearing in mind i will only be driving round farms, not hardcore off roading.

and, given ther price of synthetic rope, do i really need some, what are the benefits,

thanks, Lee

Tiger is a good entry level winch, warn is an upmarket entry. Your call on that

The small fairlead is for plasma rope ONLY!

The big one is for steel ONLY!

Pulley is as it sounds its a pulley, with a few of them and some smart mechanics you can tow yourself backwards whilst winching forwards ;) As to a snatch block it basically just doubles the line up so you can double the pull of the winch but halve the speed

been into electric winch shop today in bradford. told the guy which ones i were interested in.(the ones 3 or 4 posts up)

he said that the warn tabor ones are not made by warn, they have just put there name to it.

i think he said the same about the tiger shark and that they were not very good.

they no longer stock goodwinch.

he said id be best off with the superwinch talon 9.500 steel £504

or, same talon with synthetic rope for £672.

then he also said the warrior samurai range were good too.

c12000 steel £390

c12000 synthetic £564

c9500 steel £354

c9500 steel HS £420. dont know what the HS stands for

c9500 synthetic £498

c9500 HS synthetic £564

im sure it will be ok for what i need it for, and if needs be i can always up grade.

and i plan on buying some sort of ground anchor too, as most of the land i shoot on is without trees,

any ground anchor info will be greatfully recieved.

cheers, Lee

The D44 1 is the Dogs - I used to have 1 - Nearly all the big challenge boys use them, the X-Eng ones are very good too. The main problem is where to carry one in your truck ! I used to have mine fixed to my internal roll cage & the blade in secured tool box.
