AU S5 suppressor.

if you look close enough you might be able to see the proof marks but this ase might be differnt to the other i'am not sure which one this is

When I took my brand new moderator out of the box it looked exactly like the one in the picture here, and that was before it even went to the gunsmith's for fitting to the rifle.

I am positive that no skilled gunsmith would remove any material from a moderator to 'make it fit easily'.

The AU S5 is designed by experts to do the job it is intended for. To say that there is a fault with the design is, in my opinion, challenging the vast sum of money and expertise given by these companies to produce such highly designed products. :good:

P.S phoned today and should have my rifle back soon. It is at the proof house as we speak.

I was thinking they might be different models, there are a few on their site.

When I spoke to Peter Jackson about these mods he stressed the fact that you need to specify which thread you need to match your barrel diameter, that the one in the magazine article looks as if they used the wrong size thread and just turned the barrel down to suit :good:

  • 2 weeks later...

Got my rifle back today :good: and I have to say they have done a 1'st class job on it. Cant wait to go and shoot it now.

After all of the confusion, I post a couple of pics of the fitting and of the rifle.

The fitting instructions supplied state thus:

'The muzzle thread should have enough play to allow the suppressor freely to align itself to the threaded shoulder. The thread should NOT be dragging tight, and should NOT be longer than 15mm. (Ideally 11 to 12mm), including the relief cut.Correct thread tolerance is easily checkedby first screwing the suppressor completely onto it's thread - and then unscrewing it half a turn. Then swing the front end of the suppressor sideways and back and forth. The threadshould allow some ''play'' to be felt. If there is no play, the thread is too tight and should be cut looser.'

Cheers

Bloody awesome is my honest opinion. :good:

I think that the stalking without ear defenders will help and the report is that of a .22 rifle that is un- suppressed. :stupid:

I think that anyone who shoots deer regularly should contremplate this option. :good:

£320 fitted and proofed.

Brilliant. :stupid:

I'm glad your pleased but I'm a bit of a machinist myself and that is not what I call a professional job  .......Unless it's a trick of the camera angle on the second image shown the end doe'snt look faced off and more importantly there is no chamfer or leading edge .........if your not careful you could cross thread things when you apply the mod :good:

Here's what mine looks like to give you an idea

The main thing is your pleased with the outcome and that's what matters
