Bit of excitement with a car thief

Got a call from the wife earlier when at work, she was at home on the farm when a bloke suddenly jumps over gates into the main yard. She went out holding one if the dogs thinking he was looking for someone till 2 women suddenly appear screaming to stop him. He had just hit their car with a nicked car and was doing a runner, to his surprise the quiet farm yard erupted as there are 7 German Shepherds kennelled out there.

He looks around and heads towards the garden where the wife is until she shouts "get him" to the dog who then does her best impression of a rabid tiger and he decides sod that for a game of soldiers and decides to take his chances with 2 women and the police rather than the dog.

Thief promptly arrested by police and his mates picked up shortly afterwards

Wife was a bit shook up but glad she had the dog with her (who is well trained I hasten to add)

No that is 100% the dog that is trained !

And it's the 2nd time this particular dog has earnt a steak dinner, some doped up guy tried to force his way into our last house (remote farm) talking about printer he was owed from eBay (no idea what on about) until the dog went for his arm as he became aggressive and started pushing open the door.

He went away at that point.

From what I have heard about how well trained your dogs are I believe that you would have to be a total nutter to want to tangle with them Andrew!

I've always believed that a nutter will often take on a couple of blokes but if there is a trained dog involved that same nutter will not want to know!

Cheers Pete, my lot are fairly well behaved and in the end just having a dog bark like a nutter on command is fine, doesn't mean the dog is going to follow it up but other people don't know that :)

Very consious of the fact that aggressive dogs are not a good thing but a well trained dog who does what's its told wether it be a Yorkie or a Great Dane is no bad thing

Only time my lot showed any sign of real property defence was when the wife was coming back in after being on the extension roof to clear the snow off the satellite dish, she climbed back in through our bedroom window, our normally placid, saintly Labrador turned into something resembling the Hound of the Baskervilles, hair bolt upright on the hackles, lips snarled so high up they were non existent, a blood curdling growl and bellow, soon as he realised it was her, straight downstairs like the devil was after him, I think he felt embarrassed.

Well done to your crowd!

All ours are softies really, all visitors love the one in the pic as she is the sweetest dog with puppy dog eyes and loves attention but when she is told to she can appear slightly different

Not me in the pics I would like to add

Schutzhund, but only with a couple. We have some German showlines who we show and a few workers as well.

We don't take it to seriously as a lot of the working dogs I meet are borderline nut jobs. Finding somewhere to train is hard as Me & the mrs don't really fit into the heavily tattooed (nowt wrong with tats I hasten to add) shaved head my dog is harder than your crowd which some clubs seem to be about

I suppose thats the problem with the dogs that are bred specifically for working, they breed them to be so game they are pretty much impossible to be pets aswell. I was thinking of having a look at working trails from what ive seen there seems to be a slightly different crowd taking part. Plus then i could do the agility work and tracking side, then progress onto the bitework if i trusted my dog. Trouble is I think hes been a status dog for someone before i had him and hes got a few issues particularly with other dogs. Its a shame because hes really smart, fast as lightning and would hit like a train if he prooved steady.

Too right. In a previous life I was a police dog handler and came across a few 'hard men' who would think nothing of tackling three or four bobbies, but they never wanted to play with the dog.

Good job! It's always reassuring when these lowlife feel the sharper side of law abiding folk. But there's one thing I'd like to ask, did your Mrs release the dog on him and if so did the scallywag feel her teeth in his backside?

No teeth met thief, he was heading for the garden from the yard so dog was a deterrent to that route, hope none of mine bite anyone because that means the deterrent hasn't worked :)
