harry69koi Posted April 4, 2013 Author Report Share Posted April 4, 2013 Well got the letters and even the doctor at one point in the letter says she has not known mr edwards to have any violent behaviour etc the letters are long winded but in a nut shell im unsure what to do now i can type out a copy to any of the basc top brass if they want to see them but im thinking all i can do now is come of the flaming tablet and re-apply for my sgc in a year or so Dont agree the the police decision but what can you do? havent got money to fight the decision allthough i think its wrong so stuffed really :( Lee Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Dave-G Posted April 4, 2013 Report Share Posted April 4, 2013 So could it be that your doctor knows your life has recently been de-stabilised by loss of job, wife and home: You can't be bothered get out of bed, but you choose this period in your life to suddenly attempt to acquire a shotgun and go traipsing out to clays and pigeon shooting while being unfit enough to get a job? I'd have no trouble knocking you back with all that recent lifestyle change to to be honest. It's come at a very iffy time mate. I'm not picking fault but you have to wonder if anyone suspects there's a possibility you are not currently your usual laid back and relaxed self. This is partly why I feel professional referees are not always a good idea for ANY type of gun ownership. Oli Posted April 4, 2013 Report Share Posted April 4, 2013 From the doctors point of view,all she needed to say was the truth..Mr Edwards is on prozac due to him needing motivation due to loosing his house and job(within a week) Not that i know much about the legality side of things but i think time and patience is your best friend here, losing both a house and a job in a week is rather ****ty to say the least and you would understandably be knocked by this, obviously follow the lead from BASC as they are the professionals, but i would imagine re-applying later after coming off the pills, explaining the context of the situation at the time and now how you are over it would seem rather reasonable. HDAV Posted April 4, 2013 Report Share Posted April 4, 2013 I am not qualified to comment but it strikes me someone with a mild dose if anti depressants (20mg a day Prozac) that has been on them for 4+ years and living an independent and normal life, has no history of violent behaviour or manic episodes is a pretty normal person, it would be more dangerous to not take the prescribed medication and follow the correct procedure for coming off the tablets. I would recommend a long and direct conversation with your GP and if possible a specialist about the best course of action to allow you to stay healthy and enjoy shooting. Got it in one m8ty think if i was a violent loon my wife would soon have sommat to say lol at docs on the 9th to discuss coming off the tablet properly (heard horror storys of peeps doing it wrong ) then re-apply for sgc in the future dont think its fair but what can you do Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Prohibition is down to serving a custodial sentence and is part of the firearm act. Police can't AFAIK prevent people from accessing guns through the proper channels.
