kennett
Evening, bit of advice needed please. Fancy a change and want to sell my .22lr and get a .17hmr, first off need to apply for a slot for .17, but keep the .22 slot, so that's just a straight variation correct? When I (hopefully) get my .17 slot, sell the .22 and buy the .17 is that another variation or is that a 1 for 1? Cheers
jgguinness
I believe that if you wanted to keep your existing .22LR slot, and add a .17HMR slot, even for a short while, then this would be an addition. If you then informed your area of a purchase of .17HMR then this would be the vacant slot taken up, when you sold your .22LR then you would have a vacant slot for .22 May be wrong though. Kes
If you want both at once - its variation - for any length of time. I have a .243 on my ticket. if I also want a .308, its a variation. However they have said if I do not buy a .243 and opt for a .308 they will change my cert for free.
kip270
If you sold your .22 and then sent your ticket off to apply for the .17, that's a variation and no charge, but if you apply for the .17 as well it's an addition and will cost you. foxy bingo
If you sold your .22 and then sent your ticket off to apply for the .17, that's a variation and no charge, but if you apply for the .17 as well it's an addition and will cost you. if you sell your .22 and apply for a .17 thats a variation and will cost, its only free if its a 1 for 1 variation
kennett
Jimlondon, yes have been using one quite a bit on a friends farm. Its not so much if I like it or not (I love it) its more the practicalities of it. I have my own shoot that I run and the .17 would be my truck gun, however if I have to start leaving shots because of excessive noise or bullet travel etc then I want to be able to have the .22 slot ready if I need it
CharlieT
Don't forget that if you wish to replace your .22 after you have sold it you will need to send a variation in to apply for another one.
al4x
If you go for a simple variation to aquire a 17 then its a £28 job, then when or if you sell your .22 send your cert in for the slot to be re opened which is free. Personally I'd go for the variation and keep the .22 till you decide whether you still have a use for it
